WWE has provided an update on the condition of Kevin Owens following an attack on the former Universal Champion this week.

During SmackDown, Owens continued his feud with Grayson Waller & Austin Theory and fought Waller in a singles match. During the match, Theory attacked Owens' hand at ringside, giving Waller the advantage, but it wasn't enough to put Owens away. While Owens won the match, he was seen clutching his hand and in pain after the match.

Backstage, Owens was seen heading into an X-ray room to get his hand checked out. In an update on Twitter, WWE stated that Owens had fractured his 4th and 5th metacarpal in his hand. It was not stated whether Owens will be missing any ring time, and it is worth remembering that this injury could be a kayfabe one for storyline purposes.

Despite this injury, Owens will participate in the United States Championship Contenders tournament which will decide Logan Paul's next opponent. Owens will be joined by Santos Escobar, Karrion Kross, Dragon Lee, Austin Theory, Grayson Waller, and one Superstar from WWE NXT yet to be announced.

The tournament will kick off on the December 8, episode of WWE SmackDown. Next week's episode of the blue brand will see Dragon Lee face Santos Escobar in first-round action while Karrion Kross will take on Bobby Lashley.
