Mercedes Mone is currently a woman without a contract, but some in WWE believe a Royal Rumble return could happen.

Mone debuted for NJPW at Wrestle Kingdom 18 in January 2023, but her contract has since expired. While there were talks with WWE, the two sides could not come to terms over money.

With her talks with WWE fizzling out, many suspect that Mone will join AEW soon enough. There is an expectation within AEW that she'll be joining after finishing up some acting commitments this month, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports.

With that said, nothing has been made certain at this time. The Observer adds that some in WWE believe there's still a shot she could make a surprise return in the upcoming Women's Royal Rumble match. One name who'd certainly want to see Mone make a return is Bayley, her friend and former tag-team partner. The Damage CTRL member recently spoke at length about her deep connection to Mone.

Mone has spent a total 1:04:30 in Royal Rumble matches and has a total of five eliminations to her name.
