WWE Road To WrestleMania House Show Results- Sydney
WWE Road to Wresltemania 22 Tour.
Friday, March 4th, 2006
Sydney Superdome, Sydney, Australia
Attendance: 16,480

The night started with Tony Chimel making his way to the ring, where he announced
Diva Krystal. She came out and gave us the rundown of the main matches tonight,
being the US Title Match, and the Fatal-4-Way Match for the World Heavyweight
Championship.

Match 1: Tag-Team
Kid Kash + Gregory Helms Vs Paul London and Brian Kendrick

Pretty good, fast paced match to open the night, as is expected with the
Cruiserweights. Kid Kash and Helms teamed well. I can't recall exact details,
but I believe London scored the pin with the dropsault (dropkicking Helms out of the
ring, and landing on Kash for the 1-2-3)

Winners: London + Kendrick

Match 2: Singles
Road Warrior Animal Vs Matt Hardy

Early in the match, Hardy jumped from the second rope, landing on his leg, and going
down injured. Trainers were called. Animal looked annoyed as did the crowd with the
length of time this was drawn out to. As Matt was bending down to manouvre between
the ropes to exit the ring, Animal attacked him, and worked on the leg for the rest
of the match. Matt put up a fight on a couple occasions, even scoring a Side-Effect
on his opponent. Ultimately, Animals concentration on Hardy's leg paid off, and
he got the 3-count.

Winner: Animal

Match 3: Singles
Jamie Noble Vs Funaki

TERRIBLE match. VERY few high points, which had the crowd disinterested, and, at
least in my section, cheering for the win by EITHER competitor. And yes, I know the
Face needs to pull some good moves to get the crowd over, but c'mon Noble, can
anyone say "Jobber!"

Winner: Funaki with the Tornado DDT from the Second Rope

Promo: JBL and Jillian Hall

The two came to the ring, and JBL did his usual "find something about the local
crowd to pick on". A real cheap trick in being a Heel. He also mentioned that he
would've liked to have wreslted tonight, but he had stretched a tendon in his
hand, and wanted to recuperate so as to be able to wrestle ASAP back in the US,
because wrestling back there is more important than wrestling in Australia. I found
his taunting more amusing than insulting though.

After a bit, the Boogeyman came to the ring, and started to taunt JBL, who, once
again, threw Jillian in the way. Before Boogeyman could make a move on JBL, however,
he was attacked from behind by Orlando Jordan (do we see a future reformation of the
Cabinet?). OJ called for a ref to come down to the ring and start a match.

Match 4: Orlando Jordan Vs the Boogeyman

Boogeyman pulled out a handful of worms, but Jordan stopped him eating them with a
kick to the gut. After a few moves, Boogeyman used his Pump-Handle Slam, and got the
victory.

Winner: the Boogeyman

Match 5: WWE Tag-Team Championship
MNM (c) Vs Bobby Lashley + Rey Mysterio

My Favourite match of the night, 4 of my favourite Smackdown Superstars all in one
match (5 if you include Melina as the valet)

The match took a while to get under way, with both Lashley and Rey receiving HUGE
support from the crowd, probably 10 "Eddie..Eddie" chants started throughout
the match

High Spots: Lashley shoved both Mercury and Nitro onto the second rope, and tagged
in Rey for the 619. He was stopped by Melina who hooked his leg.
Another time when Rey was tagged in, Lashley lifted him up like a Gorilla Press, and
dropped him on Nitro.

The Ending: Lashley lifted Nitro up over his shoulder for the Dominator. Mercury
came into the ring with the belt and knocked him down.

Winners: Lashley and Mysterio by Disqualification

Aftermath: Rey returned to the ring and dropkicked Mercury and Nitro into the second
rope. Melina jumped in front of him to stop the 619 again, but Rey gave her an
Inverted Atomic Drop, sending her into the second rope right between her boys. And
Rey delivers a TRIPLE 619!!!!!
The winners grabbed the belts and held them high, even though the announcement had
been made that the titles would not change hands. Even so, could this be a sign of a
new tag-team with their eyes on the gold?
The referee grabbed the belts from Lashley and Rey, returning them to the Champs,
who make their way up the ramp.
The winners are still in the ring, celebrating. Rey reclines on the top rope
"a-la-Eddie". After Rey's music finishes, Eddie's music starts, and
Rey thanks the crowd again.

Match 6: Singles
Sylvain Vs Finlay

Pretty good match. I think Finlay maybe turning Face, similar to Austin, a
"Bad-Guy" Face

High Spots: Finlay grabbing the mic from Chimel and starting a "You Are A
Wanker" chant directed at Sylvain.

Finish: Finley used his finisher for the pin. He then grabbed his club and almost
hit Sylvain with it, but the ref grabbed it from him and ran up the ramp.

Match 7: United States Championship
Booker T Vs Chris Benoit (c)

Sharmell is introduced first, and she comes to the ring, and introduces Booker.

A pretty decent match. All the usual moves and high spots: 3 Germans, Flying
Headbutt. Benoit applied the Cripple Crossface on Booker, who taps, and Benoit
retains his gold.

The Main Event: Fatal-4-Way
Match 8: World Heavyweight Championship
Randy Orton Vs Mark Henry Vs Kurt Angle (c) Vs the Undertaker

High Spots: Taker went Old School on Orton. Orton landed an RKO on Henry. Angle hits
Orton into the front row of the crowd, and applies the Angle Lock, to which Randy
taps. But it's not over, because it's not in the ring!

Finish: Angle and Henry are on the outside. Taker Chokeslams Orton, and covers. At
2+1/2, Henry grabs Takers foot and drags him to the outside, breaking the pin. Henry
and Taker battle it out. Angle jumps into the ring, picks up Randy, hits him with
the Angle Slam, gets the 1-2-3 and retains his belt.

Aftermath: Henry goes up the ramp while the crowd cheers on Angle, who also makes
his way back.
Orton is lying at ringside. Taker picks up Orton, and throws him back into the ring
as the crowd is chanting "Tomb-stone..Tomb-stone!". Taker bends over Orton
to pick him up, and he is attacked from behind by JBL out of nowhere!
JBL is sent to the ropes, and Taker hits him with a Big Boot. As he stands back up
and turn around, JBL falls victim to a Chokeslam. Taker picks him up and delivers a
Tombstone.
Orton is still lying in the ring, and Taker hasn't forgotten about him. He picks
Orton up too, and drops him in the Tombstone. JBL disappears unnoticed back up the
ramp.
Taker is saluting the crowd as the referee helps the battered Orton up the ramp.
Taker slowly returns backstage.
