U.S. Team to Make World Baseball Debut
PHOENIX (AP) - The World Baseball Classic resumes today with five games on the schedule, including the first game for the U.S. team. The U.S. takes on Mexico in Phoenix at 4 p.m. EST.

Jake Peavy of the San Diego Padres will start on the mound for the Americans while Baltimore's Rodrigo Lopez gets the call for Mexico.

The U.S. lineup features three New York Yankees: third baseman Alex Rodriguez, shortstop Derek Jeter and center fielder Johnny Damon.

In addition today, there are two games in Kissimmee, Fla.: Dominican Republic vs. Venezeula and Australia vs. Italy.

Scottsdale, Ariz., hosts the game between Canada and South Africa.

And the Puerto Rican team hosts Panama at San Juan.

Puerto Rico could be without one of its biggest sluggers for its opener today. Carlos Delgado may sit out the game with tendinitis in his left elbow.

Two teams, South Korea and Japan, have already advanced to the next round.

U.S should beat Mexico but the true question is who would the home crowd be rooting for since it's in Arizona and close to the border U.S or Mexico.
