Chinese Travel Agency Fined For Selling Too Cheap
A Chinese travel agency has been fined 150,000 yuan ($19,000; £10,000) for selling airline tickets too cheaply.
Jinan Spring Holiday Travel Agency broke official rules by selling tickets for as little as 1 yuan, the state-run Xinhua News Agency reported.
The travel agency, based in China's Shandong province, sold more than 400 cheap Spring Airlines tickets for flights between Jinan and Shanghai.
A regular one-way ticket between the two cities usually costs 910 yuan.
State carriers
Under Chinese rules, airlines can only offer discounts of up to 45% on standard air tickets.
Spring Airlines, which owns the Jinan travel agency, launched its services in July last year.
The privately-run company was the first Chinese airline to announce a budget-ticket price policy in a domestic market dominated by state-run carriers.
The fine covers tickets sold between 30 November and 10 December, Xinhua reported.
