Impact Results – 18th Mar 2006

Highlights from Destination X open the show.

The Impact opening airs.

Jarrett's theme comes on, and out he walks with Gail Kim, Jackie Gayda, Scott D'Amore, AMW, Team Canada, Alex Shelley, Abyss and James Mitchell. Jarrett talks about how he and his group accomplished what they needed to at the PPV. He says Sting is gone yet again. He says this time it's different, he left on his own terms last time. After Destination X, he left on Jarrett's terms. Jarrett then introduces his "close personal friend and final piece of the puzzle", Scott Steiner. Steiner's theme comes on and he walks out. Steiner says, "So this is TNA?" He says he's been watching for a long time and watching what management has been doing. The fans chant "steroids" briefly. Steiner talks about Rhino and spits. The crowd chants, "You still suck!" loudly. He calls Team 3D fat, backyard wrestlers. He says that he is what a champion looks like, and if he looked as bad as them he would have stayed in the backyard. Steiner addresses Christian. He says the vein in his arm is as big as Christian's arm. He says his arm is as big as Christian's leg. He says Christian is only one bitch slap away from becoming an ex champion. He next addresses Sting. Fans chant "We Want Christian." He says when TNA hired Sting, they rolled out the red carpet and wined and dined him to be the new face of TNA. He says "Where's the new face of TNA" and "Where is Sting?" He says Sting is running scared and the new face of TNA is him. He says he found out TNA management didn't call him because he has a bad attitude. He says they were right. He's been arrested, jailed, and put in lockdown. He says he apologizes for nothing. Steiner puts his arm around Jarrett and says they are the new face of TNA. He says wherever Jarrett goes, he goes. He says if they have a problem with Jarrett, they have a problem with him. He of course being the big, bad booty daddy.

Borash is backstage with Larry Z. Larry addresses Steiner and anyone else who calls out management. He says upper management is a giant corporation. He is the man who makes the matches and takes responsibility. Larry announces that there will be a special match next week on impact. A 6 sides of steel match with Team Canada vs. Team 3D. Samoa Joe barges in. He calls the Larry the shotcaller. He says its in his best interest to give him his rematch. Larry says Joe is becoming the talk of pro wrestling. He says its time for him to step out of the X Division. He says he has the opponent for him to step out of the X Division, and next week he will let him know who it is. Joe asks him if he is hard of hearing? Larry leaves and Joe goes crazy throwing around the furniture.

X Cup Qualifying Match
Matt Bentley w/ Traci vs. Elix Skipper w/ Simon Diamond vs. Sonjay Dutt

Simon Diamond joins Tenay and West. Bentley and Skipper start off working over Dutt and they throw him to the outside. Bentley and Skipper exchange punches. Bentley nails a release belly to belly. Bentley continues to work him over. Bentley with a cross body out of the corner for a near fall. Skipper comes back with a kick. Dutt comes back in the ring with a dual dropkick. He works over Skipper with fists. Dutt goes for a move, but Bentley nails Skipper in the gut with a kick and they both crash to the mat. Bentley works over Dutt. Dutt takes Bentley over to the outside with a slightly botches huracanrana. Skipper knocks Dutt off the apron and and nails a twisting plancha to the outside taking out both opponents. Dutt and Skipper are back in the ring. They exchange fists. Skipper misses a moonsault from the top, punches Dutt, and turns around into a superkick from Maverick Matt. Dutt breaks up the pin with a 450 off the top. Dutt makes the cover on Bentley to get the pinfall. Other than the botched huracanrana spot this was a hot opening contest.

Winner: Sonjay Dutt, to become the final member of Team USA for the World X Cup


Tenay, West and Diamond talk. Tenay talks about Diamond promising footage of him heading to White Sox training camp. Diamond says he has the footage and they air it. Diamond is shown, with Alex Shelley filming him, in Tucson, AZ at White Sox training camp. He says AJ Pierzynski and Dale Torborg though they got one over on them a few months ago, but he is here to get one over on him. He is wearing a white sox uniform and hat to disguise himself. He goes to participate in batting practice. He says he's a new guy that just signed. Diamond is shown taking batting practice. A White Sox assistant coach says his attitude sucks. Back to the Impact Zone, Diamond says he was out to prove he is the best 2 sport athlete alive. Diamond says they (Pierzynski and Torborg) ran away when he tried to confront them at camp. Tenay says that's not what he heard. He says he has some friends in the truck that have more footage. Diamond gets nervous and says that is not true. Diamond begs them to go to break. Tenay says we will go to break and then air what happened after Diamond cut off the footage when we get back.

--COMMERCIAL BREAK--

Diamond is talking on his headset arguing about them airing this upcoming footage. He wants another commercial break. Diamond was great in this segment. Tenay says roll it. Diamond approaches Pierzynski, who has an X Title belt over his shoulder. Diamond is pissed. He says titles are never just handed out in wrestling, you have to earn it. AJ says he has no idea what is coming. Ozzie Guillen comes from behind and nails Diamond with a chair. Diamond says that was edited with an "ipod." Tenay says, "An Ipod? I think you mean photoshop, genius." Diamond gets pissed and leaves while West and Tenay laugh.

Borash is backstage with Team 3D. Borash asks them about the six sides of steel match on Impact next week. Brother Ray and Devon pledge allegiance as Brother Ray and Devon sing "O' Canada" with revised lyrics about their match next week and how they will beat Team Canada's ass. Brother Ray says all joking outside, next week will not be the first time Team 3D has been in a cage match but it may be the last time for Team Canada.


Abyss w/ James Mitchell vs. Cassidy Riley

Tenay announces that Sting has invited TNA to come to California to discuss the situation that went down at Destination X last weekend. Abyss basically works over Riley squashing him. He nails a backbreaker. Abyss nails the Black Hole Slam and gets the pin. Typical Abyss squash match.

Winner: Abyss

--COMMERCIAL BREAK--

An interview with Christian, filmed while he is on location in Canada shooting for an upcoming movie, airs. He talks a bit about the movie. Highlights are shown of his recent feud with Jarrett. Christian addresses Alex Shelley and how he shouldn't be partnered with Jarrett. He says he is young and impressionable. He talks about Sting, and says he feels for he and his family for being invaded. He says that Sting has every reason to be pissed.

Borash is backstage with James Mitchell and Abyss. Mitchell says he bets Christian will do everything he can to stay out of fighting Abyss, who he calls the most overlooked man in wrestling. Mitchell says since Christian won't come to them, they will go to them. He says they know where he lives. Mitchell then goes into an analogy about potty training a dog. He says Christian can look forward to a housebreaking at the hands of Abyss. Shelley comes in. He says he is coming with them to film them as they go to Christian. Shelley says its a great oppurtunity for a documentary. Mitchell agrees.


LAX (Konnan, Machette & Homicide) vs. Norman Smiley & Shark Boy

Its a brawl from the beginning. Smiley nails an atomic drop on Homicide. Smiley puts Homicide across the ropes and does his big wiggle. Konnan nails Smiley from behind with his slapjack. Machette works over Shark Boy. Konnan lays out Machette "accidently." Shark Boy pins Machette. Not much of a match.

Winners: Norman Smiley and Shark Boy

-After the match, Konnan and Homicide lay out Machette and work him over. Tenay and West call it "tough love."

--COMMERCIAL BREAK--


Shannon Moore, Alex Shelley & The NWA Tag Champs America's Most Wanted (James Storm & Chris Harris) w/ Gail Kim vs. Ron Killings, Rhino, Christopher Daniels & AJ Styles

Rhino and Harris start off. Or not. Harris tags in Shelley. Rhino puts on a headlock. Shelley takes him over with a headlock takeover, but Rhino quickly takes him down. Rhino with a hip toss. Rhino continues to work him over. Daniels is tagged in. Daniels puts on an armbar. Daniels with a dropkick to the back. Daniels puts on another armbar as we go to a commercial.

--COMMERCIAL BREAK--

Daniels and Storm are in. Styles is tagged in. Styles with a backelbow. He and Daniels then work together to take down Storm with a combination legsweep/clothesline. Styles comes off the ropes, but Shelley nails him. AJ fights back before being dropped by Harris. Storm makes the cover for a 1 count. Moore is tagged in. He nails a side suplex. Moore puts on a front facelock. Styles fights back and goes for his moonsault into the reverse DDT, but it gets botched as he lands on top of Moore. Styles still nails his reverse DDT. Killings is tagged in and cleans house. Killings takes Moore down with a leg lariat. Killings with a front suplex and a near fall on Moore. Rhino comes in and the match breaks down. Daniels and Killings work together, as Killings flies over the top rope taking out Shelley and Storm. Harris takes out Daniels with a clothesline in the ring. Harris takes out some handcuffs, but he turns around into a Gore from Rhino. Styles powerbombs Moore and then nails the Styles Clash. Styles turns him over and makes the pin. Good main event. Very fast paced for the most part with some cool highspots mixed in. Good to see a clean finish.

Winners: AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Rhino & Ron Killings

i saw it and it was pretty good. One thing is that Jarretts entourage is starting to look like a lame nWo having half the roster a part of it. when they were all in the ring during stieners speech, i was like god how many of em are there
