Zach Arnold of Puroresu Power is reporting that the Japanese newspaper Tokyo Sports has published a story, claiming that WWE’s World Heavyweight Champion Batista will be wrestling in Japan next month.

According to the report, Batista would face Hiroshi Tanahashi on February 18 in Tokyo, Japan, as part of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Ryogoku Kokugikan event. NJPW President, Simon Inoki, had recently told Japanese media that an ‘important gaijin’ would be in attendance on next month’s show.

As we’ve previously reported here at WrestleMag.com, talks between NJPW officials (including Inoki) and World Wrestling Entertainment have recently taken place. The outcome of those talks is yet to be seen - and that’s if there is an outcome at all.

i thought the talks between the wwe and new japan would see wrestlers from japan wrestle in the wwe not the other way round. i think it will be interesting to see how this pans out as this could gain more fans for the wwe in japan if everything goes well
