Sandra Bullock's husband and Monster Garage host and co-producer Jesse James has been fined US$271,250 for violating California's clean-air rules.

The fine was imposed by the California Air Resources Board, which alleges 50 of James' custom-built chopper bikes violated rules by not having state certified emissions equipment on their exhaust systems.

As a result the bikes sold between 1998 and 2005, were giving off hydrocarbons at up to 10 times the state limits, said Paul Jacobs, chief of the board's Mobile Sources Enforcement branch.

James, who also hosts and co-produces Motorcycle Mania, was not available for comment.

That is a pretty big fine but I think they will have no problem paying it lol. But I think he should have to fix all of them.

I think it is bullshit that he has to pay it. He wasn't the only one who built those bikes. And when doing the show he was doing, it was also the producers who must have known about it. Just because it is his name on it means nothing.

I think it is bullshit that he has to pay it. He wasn't the only one who built those bikes. And when doing the show he was doing, it was also the producers who must have known about it.

how would a hollywood movie producer know what the proper emission requirements are on a motorcycle? More importantly why would they call him and go "hey Jessie, are the emissions on your bikes up to par?". The producers don't have a thing to do with the actual building of the bikes. They pay him money and he lets their camera crews in his company, thats the entire extent of their involvement.

Just because it is his name on it means nothing.

He is the sole owner of the company, everything comes back to the guy that owns the company. At the end of the day, he is the one that makes the decision on every single aspect of the company. From whether or not they want to use the proper equipment to whether or not to use two ply tissue in the restroom, everything is his call.
