An Australian nudist who tried to kill a spider has burnt himself in a place most of us would have kept covered up.

The 56-year-old man poured petrol into what he thought was the nest of a deadly funnel web spider.

When he lit a match the resulting blast left him with burns to 18% of his body, particularly around the buttock and upper-thigh area.

Emergency workers, including a helicopter ambulance crew, were called to attend to the scorched naturist.

They said the man's state of undress probably contributed to the extent of the burns.

Other guests at the nudist colony near Bowral, 60 miles south-west of Sydney, thought the spider was probably just a harmless trapdoor and not a funnel web.

The fate of the unidentified arachnid is unknown.

The helicopter rescue service was recently called to another spider-related incident in the area.

This time a man attempted to kick a spider that was crawling up a cabin wall, and ended up breaking his leg in two places.

Well, that beats the article I read a couple of months ago when a German woman tried to kill a spider using a can of hairspray and a cigarette lighter and ended up burning her garage down

Some people have no common sense at all... How do they manage to make it from day to day??? :hmm:

Why use insect spray when they can play with a homemade flamethrower?

So true so true... but you can turn insect spray into a flame thrower.

Where's the fun in making a home made flamethrower with insect spray, when the insect spray alone would kill the insects?

Hairpray and a cigarette lighter is much more creative!!
