Online auctioneer eBay is going into the property business - selling a town for a starting price of around £1m.

Bridgeville is in northern California - about 40 miles from the quaintly-named Eureka.

The town was originally sold in December 2002 but it was then in such a bad state that the winning bidder backed out of the deal.

The present owners bought the town as it was and have now done it up.

That means any new owner will have a ready-to-move-into main house, with four other houses also in the hamlet.

The current owners have added a septic tank that can cope with a town of up to 100 people so they insist there is plenty of scope for expansion.

The rubbish and the dilapidated trailers have been cleared away and the local council has given planning permission for a "river front resort".

"We have put our heart and soul into refurbishing this town with the hopes of residing there one day," say the owners.

"However due to personal family concerns we now need to stay in Southern California for the foreseeable future."

Take a look...

Kel, will you buy the town for me?

Is it even legal to sell/buy a town??

What happens if there a people living in the town when it is sold... What happens to them if the new owners of the town decide to turn it into a huge hotel or something else and their houses are in the way? :hmm:
