LEESBURG, Fla. -- A Leesburg man was arrested Tuesday on sexual battery charges after claiming that a 6-year-old girl made sexual advances toward him, police said.
James Rhodes Jr., 49, was charged with a felony count of sexual battery on a child under the age of 12.
According to the girl's mother, Rhodes watched the girl in the afternoons until she gets home from work. The girl's mother told Leesburg police that Rhodes told her that he could no longer watch the girl because she made sexual advances toward him by kissing his ear and rubbing his crotch area.
According to the police report, the mother asked her daughter about the incident, and the girl said Rhodes had touched her inappropriately while fondling himself.
During an interview with authorities, the girl said that Rhodes had touched her multiple times, according to the report.
After being read his Miranda rights, Rhodes told police that he's never been alone with the girl and never touched her inappropriately, the report said.
