British actor Jude Law has been awarded one of France's top cultural honours at a ceremony in London.
The Talented Mr Ripley star said he was "speechless" after being presented with the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres medal by the French ambassador.
"My mum and dad have lived in France for 15 years, so really it is a country I share as my home," he continued.
Ambassador Gerard Errera described the 34-year-old performer as "simply one of the most talented actors today".
'Wonderful words'
"Your immense success has not been handed to you on a plate," he continued. "It has been the product of hard work.
"This honour is not given in recognition of what you have done for France.
"It is given for what you have done as an actor and what you represent in the world of cinema, and in a way maybe more importantly for what you are as a human being."
Sporting the green, white and silver medallion on his suit lapel, Law thanked the ambassador for his "wonderful words".
