The Harry Potter films have made the teenager a global star
Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has signed up to play the boy wizard in the final two films in the hit series.

Producers Warner Bros told the BBC's Newsround the actor was "very much looking forward to starting filming" the sixth film in September.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is due out next year, with the seventh and final movie following that.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the fifth film to be based on JK Rowling's books, is out in July.

Radcliffe won the part in 2000, aged 11, and the first film - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - arrived in cinemas the following year.

Each instalment covers one school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry - making the title character about 18 at the end of the series.

The final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is not expected to be released until 2010 - the year Radcliffe turns 21.

The massive international success of the Harry Potter films has followed sales totalling 325 million for JK Rowling's books.

Rowling finished writing the final novel this January and the book will go on sale in July.

Radcliffe made his debut on the West End stage in London this week, earning positive reviews for his performance in the controversial drama Equus.
