Brazilian-born defender Marcus Tulio Tanaka has nodded home a decider in injury time to give Urawa Red Diamonds a 1-0 win over Avispa Fukuoka and regain the lead in the J-League standings.

One minute into the three-minute injury time, substitute Masayuki Okano sent a cross from the right to the goal-mouth, where Tulio jumped for the winner.

"We tried hard to win the game until the very end, which resulted in this victory," said Tulio, who represented Japan for the Athens Olympic Games.

"We had so many tough games and we won three points from the win. I'm sure it will have good effect towards winning the championship. We were held to a draw in our previous game, so we really wanted to win today. I'm very satisfied," he added.

Urawa regained the lead in the standings with five wins and two draws for 17 points, one point above defending champions Gamba Osaka and three points above Kawasaki Frontale.

On Saturday, Osaka also won a game in injury time to beat Kashima Antlers 1-0 with Japan international Yasuhito Endo cashing in on a penalty chance.

Karasaki took three goals in the first 20 minutes to beat Sanfrecce Hiroshima 3-1.

In the only other game Sunday, Shimizu S-Pulse overwhelmed Oita Trinita 4-1 with South Korea's Cho Jae-Jin, Brazilian Marquinhos and Jungo Fujimoto scoring, respectively.
