LE CANNET, France (AP) -- Omar Narvaes of Argentina retained his WBO flyweight title Saturday with a unanimous decision over Brahim Asloum of France.

Narvaes remained unbeaten with 24 wins and two draws in 26 fights. All three judges had him clearly ahead, scoring it 118-109, 117-110, 116-111.

It was the second loss for Asloum in 22 fights. His other defeat also came on points, to Lorenzo Parra of Venezuela in December 2005 for the WBA flyweight title.

Narvaes controlled the opening two rounds, catching his opponent with sharp jabs, although his tendency to drop his guard allowed Asloum to connect with strong left hooks to the jaw and nose in the third -- the Frenchman's best round.

Asloum also wobbled Narvaes with a right in the fifth but could not follow up against a quicker opponent and began to tire, backpedaling to stay away from danger. Asloum spent much of the next three rounds against the ropes trying to fend off rapid punches, and when he ventured into the middle of the ring, Narvaes hit him repeatedly.

Trailing on points and needing a knockout, Asloum landed rights in the 10th and 12th rounds, but never really troubled Narvaes, who ended with a succession of quick punches to Asloum's head and body.
