Liverpool have given themselves a great chance of FA Youth Cup success after a 3-0 win over Manchester City in the first leg at Anfield.
The Merseyside club were in control for the majority of the first half and take a lead back to Eastlands on April 21 thanks to goals from Robbie Threlfall, Ryan Flynn and Miki Roque.
Liverpool were much the better side in the opening exchanges of the game and striker Paul Anderson was a livewire up front.
The Reds were ahead inside 20 minutes when Threlfall poked home from a corner kick after mis-timing his original header.
Anderson then had a deflected effort go just wide of Lawrence Matthewson's post before City's best chance of the half was spurned by Kelvin Etuhu, who shot straight at David Roberts from 12 yards.
Flynn added a second for Liverpool on 32 minutes to put the hosts in total command of the tie. Anderson picked up the ball on the right and laid it off for Flynn to fire a shot from the edge of the area into the bottom corner.
City pushed for a goal in the second half and had numerous opportunities to pull one back.
Danny Sturridge rattled a post while Roberts kept out Ashley Williams with a fine stop before City's best chance to get on the score sheet.
Chaos from a corner saw Godwin Antwi twice clear off the line before the ball fell to the feet of Etuhu, who from in front of goal, scuffed his shot, allowing Roberts to make the save.
Man of the match Anderson almost added a third for Liverpool with a superb overhead kick that crashed back off the crossbar but Roque showed him how to find the back of the net with a late header that will have been a huge blow to City who had played much better in the second half.
