Actor Johnny Depp has spoken of his relief about his daughter's recovery from a serious illness.

Seven-year-old Lily-Rose was rushed to a London hospital in February.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, which said she had been suffering from e-coli poisoning, Depp said she had come through it "beautifully and unscathed".

The Hollywood star, who also has a four-year-old son with actress Vanessa Paradis, said: "She is now as healthy as she always was. She is wonderful."

'Super strong'

He added: "It was a reminder to us of how lucky we are to be able to breathe, walk, talk, think and surround ourselves with people we love.

"What got us through this wasn't the strength of Vanessa or me but our daughter and her incredible ability to make us feel OK even though she was very unwell. She was super-strong."

Depp was filming the movie Sweeney Todd at Pinewood Studios when Lily-Rose was taken ill.

In the film, which is due out in the UK early next year, he plays Benjamin Barker, also known as the murderous barber Sweeney Todd.

Helena Bonham Carter and Alan Rickman also star in the movie, which was directed by Tim Burton.
