Brian Noble's brief honeymoon period as Wigan coach came to an abrupt end as they were thrashed at the KC Stadium.

Hull were 42-0 up by half-time with Lee Radford, Kirk Yeaman, Kirk Dixon, Nathan Blacklock (two) and Motu Tony (two) all crossing the tryline.

Pat Richards and Jordan James did muster second-half scores for Wigan.

But further tries from Richard Horne and Dixon, with Paul Cooke landing all nine goals, completed the rout to give Hull coach Peter Sharp a dream start.

This fourth successive win consolidated their place in the top six but Wigan remain firmly rooted to the bottom after their 10th league defeat of the season, their worst to date.

Last week's win at Huddersfield must have seemed an aberration to Noble as his side conceded seven tries in the opening 36 minutes.

The only consolation was they went some way to restoring pride by sharing the spoils in a more competitive second half.

Hull produced champagne rugby from the moment chief architects Richard Swain and Richard Horne combined to put second rower Radford over after only four minutes.

Super League's leading try-scorer Kirk Yeaman, who looks certain to win his first Great Britain cap against New Zealand in June, then took his tally for the season to 17 and the tries folowed freely for the rest of the half.

Some of Wigan's 2,000 travelling fans headed towards the exit before it was even over.

Australian winger Richards opened their account early in the second half when he leapt high to take Dennis Moran's high kick, before substitute James was put through a gap by Sean O'Loughlin.

But Hull finished with a flourish as Jamie Thackray's off-load created a try for Horne and Dixon grabbed his second courtesy of man-of-the-match Cooke.
