Benoit's Doctor May Also Be Charged With Insurance Fraud

ATLANTA -- The state may launch its own investigation into the doctor who treated pro wrestler Chris Benoit.Officials said Monday they are looking at records seized from Dr. Phil Astin.They want to know if Astin was involved in insurance fraud.

Astin has been charged with over-prescribing painkillers to two patients.

He's also accused by the federal government of providing large amounts of steroids to Benoit, who police said killed his wife and son before taking his own life last month.Astin is being monitored electronically while he is free on bond.

WSB also reported that Dr. Phil Astin is being investigated by Georgia's insurance fraud division, a review prompted by the Benoit family tragedy.
