WEEKEND RESULTS, NEWS & NOTES
TNA invaded Philadelphia on Friday, and I have those results below! Some fans are claiming that the show, in the former ECW arena, drew more than 1,000 fans, which is certainly great news. Samoa Joe defeats Christopher Daniels and A.J. Styles in what was the fans’ pick for match of the night. Rhino defeated Jeff Jarrett clean in the middle of the ring. Jarrett apparently was the only wrestler on the show to get booed. TNA then headed to Wayne, N.J., on Saturday, and the crowd again was estimated at more than 1,000. (Reviews of both shows are on the Torch main page.)
With such a large crowd Saturday for TNA, it apparently hurt the CZW show in Philadelphia, as live reports said the crowd was about 300. (Good for most indies, but on the “Cage of Death” show last December, CZW drew 1,000 or more). Chris Hero defeated Claudio Castognoli. The CZW results are below.
Full Impact Pro ran two shows in Florida over the weekend, and apparently the Saturday show in Orlando had a really good crowd, too! Bryan Danielson retained his ROH World Heavyweight title, and Austin Aries & Roderick Strong retained their ROH tag titles on the show. ROH promoter Gabe Sapolsky announced this show will go into immediate production!
Matt & Jeff Hardy re-united, if only for one night, at the CWF Mid Atlantic show in Burlington, N.C., on Saturday. Jeff Hardy gave someone a Twist of Fate, and Matt ran to ringside to pull Jeff of the opponent, and they headed to the back together; neither man actually wrestled on the show.
In International Wrestling Cartel on Friday, Delirious retained his Super Indy title. Dennis Gregory ended Shirley Doe’s year-plus reign as IWC heavyweight champion as well. Low Ki missed his flight, and did not appear. Results are below.
