Why Michael Cole as a Pro Was Dropped from NXT Season 4

Yesterday here, we reported that Michael Cole was set to be one of the WWE NXT Season Four Pros, a move that would have fit perfectly with his new antagonistic role from the last several months.

I am told that originally, WWE intended to put a new commentary team on show (I've heard different combinations of Josh Mathews, Todd Grisham and CM Punk) but instead dropped those plans to keep Michael Cole and Mathews as a duo for NXT.

That decision killed the Cole as a Pro plans, which they can always go back to down the line. The decision was made late yesterday afternoon.
