James Wan Returns to Horror With 'Insidious' on April 1

James Wan and Leigh Whannell - the creators of the Saw franchise - will return to their horror roots when Insidious arrives in theaters on April 1. Wan, who also directed Dead Silence, returns to the helm, while screenwriter Whannell once again stars. The pic, which preemed at the Toronto International Film Festival this past September, follows a young family that makes the terrifying discovery that the body of their comatose boy has become a magnet for malevolent entities, while his consciousness lies trapped in the dark and insidious realm known as The Further. The film echoes Poltergeist. Rose Byrne, Patrick Wilson, and Barbara Hershey all star. FilmDistrict will distribute for Sony. The cut that arrives in theaters will be different than the festival cut, although the amount of changes are unknown (there was a bit of additional photography).
