Mick Jagger to Peform at Grammy Awards

SIR Mick Jagger is to perform at the Grammys for the first time.

The Rolling Stones frontman is to take to the stage at the 53rd Grammy Awards on February 13 as part of a special tribute to soul legend Solomon Burke — best-known for his hit Everybody Needs Somebody to Love — who died in October last year at the age of 70.

“We’re thrilled, delighted, excited and very much looking forward to Mick doing his debut on the Grammy stage,” said Neil Portnow, president and chief executive of the Recording Academy.

“It’s extraordinary to many of us that the fact is, this will be the first time; he has never performed on the Grammy stage.”

The 67-year-old rocker will perform as part of the ceremony’s annual tribute, ‘In Memoriam’, to members of the music community who have passed away since the last Grammy Awards.

Mick will join the likes of Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, Britney Spears — who will be opening the ceremony — and indie group Arcade Fire, all of whom have recently confirmed they will be performing at the event.

Meanwhile, Gwyneth Paltrow is to sing alongside soul star Cee Lo Green and The Muppets for an expected edited version of Cee Lo’s mega-hit F**k You.
