UFC on FUEL TV 8 official for March 3 in Japan; tickets on sale this week

As previously reported, the UFC returns to Japan in March, and tickets for the event go on sale this week.

UFC on FUEL TV 8 takes place at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, just north of Tokyo. The same venue hosted the UFC's most recent trip to the country, UFC 144 this past February.

Now, a little more than a year later, the promotion will return for a card on FOX family broadcast partner FUEL TV, which will air the main card live on March 2 in North America (March 3 in Japan). UFC officials recently announced venue, broadcast and ticket details for the event.

Tickets for the card currently are on sale in Japan at Lawson convenience stores. Additionally, UFC Mobile subscribers can get tickets on Thursday.

And the UFC also has announced a new UFC Japan Fan Club, which launches on Thursday. With purchase of a membership (¥6,000, or approximately $73 US), fans can purchase tickets on Thursday. Otherwise, tickets are targeted for a January on-sale date for the general public.

Tickets will be priced from ¥5,800 ($70) to ¥34,000 ($412), plus a ¥100,000 ($1212) VIP tier.

"After an amazing event last February, we're excited to bring the UFC back to Japan for the second year in a row," UFC President Dana White stated. "Japan has such a big fan base that we knew we couldn't stay away for too long.”

The UFC recently announced a heavyweight bout between Stefan Struve and Mark Hunt for UFC on FUEL TV 8. Additional matchups are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

"It was a tremendous achievement to bring the UFC to Japan last February and I am looking forward to our return following the success of that event," said UFC Asia Managing Director Mark Fischer stated. "Our Japanese fans have been supportive of this sport for many years and we are delighted to bring them, once again, a great card and the opportunity to view the best talent and production this sport has to offer. Our next event at Saitama Arena on March 3 will continue to showcase how popular the UFC and mixed martial arts has become on the global stage."
