WWE NXT LIVE Coverage and Discussion - 25th May, 2016
Location: Winter Park, Florida
Announcers: Corey Graves and Tom Phillips.

William Regal says that he was going to have Bayley face Asuka at Takeover, but the medical staff has said that Bayley is not cleared to wrestle. Tonight, Alexa Bliss, Nia Jax, and Carmella will be in a Triple Threat Match to determine who will face Asuka at Takeover.


Tom and Corey talk about the main event and Corey says that is the best way to handle this situation.


Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano vs Shane Thorne and Nick Miller

Ciampa and Miller start things off and Miller with a side head lock and take down. Ciampa with a head scissors and Miller escapes. Ciampa with a waist lock take down but Miller with a reversal. Ciampa escapes. Miller sends Ciampa to the mat. Thorne tags in and he wants Gargano and Johnny tags in. Thorne with a side head lock and wrist lock. Gargano with a reversal. Thorne wtih a kip up to escape and a snap mare follwoed by a drop kick. MIller tags in and they work on Johnny's groinal region. Miller with a double sledge to the back. Thorne tags in and Miller with an atomic drop followed by a running European uppercut for Thorne and he gets a near fall.

Thorne with a front face lock and slam. Miller is tagged in and Gargano wtih a punch. Ciampa is tagged in and Ciampa with chops. MIller with chops. Thorne tags in and they hit a double back elbow and a double fist drop. Gargano is sent to the floor by tThorne. Thorne teases a dive to the floor but he flips back into the ring and we go to commercial.

We are back and Thorne with a side head lock on Ciampa. Ciampa with an elbow to escape. Ciampa tries for a belly-to-back suplex but Thorne lands on his feet. Ciampa with an elbow and Gargano tags in and hits the slingshot spear. Gargano with a snap mare and drop kick to the back of the head for a near fall. Gargano with a front face lock. Gargano with a side Russian leg sweep and he rolls up Thorne and has him in a chin lock submission. Thorne gets to the ropes and Gargano releases the hold. Gargano with a chop and Ciampa tags in. Ciampa chops Thorne and follows with a snap mare and reverse chin lock.

Ciampa and Thorne wtih punches. Ciampa with a boot but he runs into a boot from Thorne. Ciampa takes care of Miller and Thorne with a drop kick and both men are down. Miller tags in and he clotheslines Ciampa. Miller with a clothelsine into the corner. Ciampa collides with Gargano and Miller with a double clothesline. Miller blocks a sunset fip attempt and Thorne tags in and he hits a neck breaker for a near fall. Gargano kicks Miller to the floor and then hits a suicide dive. Thorne misses a clothesline and Ciampa with a palm strike and running knee into the corner. Gargano tags in and Gargano hits the super kick while Ciampa hits a running knee to the back of the head and Gargano gets the three count.

Winners: Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano

After the match
Gargano and Ciampa celebrate in the ring and then show respect to Thorne and Miller.


We take a look at Samoa Joe with a video package. It starts with the night he won the NXT Title from Finn Balor in Lowell. Joe says it marked the beginning of a new chapter in NXT. Inside that cage, all hopes of survival are lost. It will just be you, Finn Balor, trapped inside with the monster. There will be no one who can stop him. The reign of Samoa Joe has just begun. At Takeover, you will see the end of Finn Balor.

Backstage:
Cathy Kelley is with Bayley and she asks her about the announcement that Bayley is not cleared to wrestle. She says she wanted this rematch but Mr. Regal is probably right. She is not at 100% so she probably should not be facing Asuka.

Nia Jax stops by and she wants Bayley to admit that she was broken by her when they fought.

Carmella stops by to be with her friend.

Nia says she will take care of both of them.

Alexa stops by and she says that this is her opportunity tonight.

Carmella says she will remember that when she is making Alexa tap out.


We go to commercial with a video package for the upcoming debut of Andrade 'Cien' Almas as he removes the mask he wore in Mexico.

We are back and Austin Aries makes his way to the ring.

Austin says the best is one of the most overused phrases in professional sports because everyone wants to be the best. You are only the best until someone better comes around. That is why Austin prefers to be great because that cannot be taken away. How do you become great? Is it by wrestling for more than a decade? Is it by winning titles everywhere? Is it by making your debut to a huge buzz and elevate that product? Austin says he has done all of that. Timing is also everything. When he came in, there were other people grabbing the attention.

Austin says that is going to stop. That is about to change. After Samoa Joe and Finn Balor settle their rivalry in the steel cage, no matter who emerges as the winner, Austin Aries will be the next champion.

Shinsuke Nakamura's music interrupts and he makes his way to the ring.

Nakamura speaks in Japanese and he apologizes because Austin does not understand Japanese.

Austin says he does not understand Nakamura. Nakamura says he does not either.

Nakamura says the NXT title is not coming to Greatness, it is coming to King of Strong Style.

William Regal's music plays and he makes his way to the stage.

He congratulates both men for the impact they have made so far. He liked what he saw with them as a tag team, but he sees so much more.

William says he would like to see them compete against each other. At Takeover, it will be Austin Aries versus Shinsuke Nakamure.

Nakamura offers his hand and Aries shakes it.

Backstage:
Jason Jordan and Chad Gable are asked about their rematch at Takeover.

Jason says that the Revival is their toughest opponents. Chad says they fight tough, but this is a wrestling ring, not a boxing ring. Jason says it does not matter where it is, they will prove they are the greatest. Chad says they will be there and they will be Ready . . . Willing . . . and Gable.

We go to commercial.


Jonny Vandal vs No Way Jose

Jose dances into the lock up and Jose with a side head lock. Jose holds on to the side head lock as Jonny tries to send him off the ropes. Jose with a shoudler tackle and Jose does some dancing. Vandal with a waist lock but Jose does some dirty dancing to escape but Vandal with a side head lock. Jose with a hip toss and flying mare. Jose gets Vandal on his shoulders for an airplane spin and then he reverses it to get rid of the jet lag and he hits a Finlay slam followed by a leg drop. Vandal sends Jose into the turnbuckles and connects with a forearm. Jose with an Irish whip and punches. Vandal has a kick blocked and Jose with a few swings for the fences follwoed by a reverse atomic drop and bulldog.

Jose winds up for the fast ball punch and then Jose with a uranage for the three count.

Winner: No Way Jose

After the match
Jose dances int he ring and then he gets Tom to dance with him. Jose dances on the announce table and then he dances his way to the back.


It is time to take a look at the challenger for the NXT Title with a video package. We start off with Finn losing the title to Samoa Joe. Finn says when he lost the NXT title, it was not the end of Finn Balor, it was just the beginning. Inside that cage, there are no excuses, only instincts. He knows what to expect in Samoa Joe, but nobody knows what Finn Balor is capable of. Finn Balor will rise again and at Takeover, he guarantees that we will see the end of Samoa Joe.

Backstage:
Cathy Kelley is with Asuka to ask her about her preference for the title match. Asuka says that it does not matter who wins, she will defeat them.

We are back and Corey Graves will be talking to Samoa Joe and Finn Balor about their steel cage at Takeover.

Next week, Austin Aries will face Elias Samson.

Backstage:
Carmella is walking in the back with Bayley as Carmella gets ready to go to the ring.


Number One Contender Match
Carmella vs Alexa Bliss vs Nia Jax

Alexa goes to the floor to allow Carmella and Nia battle and then potentially take advantage of the situation. Nia runs Carmella into the corner and puts her on the turnbuckles. Carmella with a knee and she goes for a sunset flip but Nia does not go over. Carmella with a side head lock and Nia throws her aside. Carmella with a top wrist lock and Nia sends her to the mat. Nia with a knee to Carmella and Alexa goes up top but Nia sees her and Alexa realizes that is HER BAD.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Nia continues to work over Carmella while Alexa watches from the floor. Carmella tries to counter a power bomb but Nia holds on for a moment but Caremlla with a rana to send Nia into the turnbuckles. Nia is pulled to the floor and Alexa gets a near fall. Alexa with a forearm to the back and she slams Carmella's head into the mat. Carmella gets a rollup for a near fall but Alexa sends Carmella to the mat again. Alexa with a slam and then she slams Carmella's head into the mat and Alexa with a splash for a near fall.

Carmella with elbows and Alexa grabs Carmella by the throat and then sends her to the mat followed by a handspring knee drop. Nia breaks up the cover and Alexa with a double knee drop to Nia. Alexa goes up top for the Sparkle Splash but Carmella breaks up the cover. Nia misses a splash into the corner when Carmella and Alexa move. Alexa and Carmella try for a double suplex but Nia blocks it and hits a double suplex of her own.

Carmella and Alexa battle by the ropes and Nia tries for a splash but she is sent to the floor. Carmella sends Alexa to the floor and then she goes for a suicide dive onto Nia but Nia catches Carmella. Alexa kicks Carmella from the apron. Alexa is sent to the floor. Carmella with a suicide dive onto Nia. Alexa hits Carmella from behind but Carmella with two flying clotheslines but Alexa escapes a belly-to-back suplex. Carmella sends Alexa into the corner and then Carmella with a Bronco Buster. Carmella sends Alexa to the mat and she sets for the head scissors choke but Nia breaks it up.

Nia with a head butt to Carmella and Nia gets Carmella up but Carmella with a rear naked choke. Nia is down to her knee but Nia gets back up and backs Carmella into the turnbuckles to get out of the hold. Carmella with a Thesz Press from the turnbuckles for a near fall. Carmella sets for the Bronco Buster but Nia recovers and hits a spinebuster followed by a leg drop for the three count.

Winner: Nia Jax

After the match
Asuka's music plays while Nia argues with someone in the front row.

Asuka makes her way to the stage and she holds up her title belt.

Asuka makes her way to the ring and she gets face to face with Nia. Nia tells Asuka if she gets this close to her again, she will drop her where she stands.
