Roy Nelson Believes There’s Too Much “Excess” At Top Of USADA

Roy Nelson has been outspoken about the use of illegal drugs in MMA for a long time.

“Big Country,” who returns to action this Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 95 vs. Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, believes there are things that the USADA is doing right.

But he also feels there is more than could be doing.

“You just have to get rid of the excess at the top,” he said during an appearance on UFC Tonight Wednesday. “Then I’d pay the fighters the extra money, and just call people up and tell them who to test. It’s not that hard.”

Regardless of all that, Nelson believes he can still compete with the best heavyweights in the world and plans to showcase that vs. Silva.

“The challenges he offers are everything,” he said. He’s a complete mixed martial artist. He’s beat the best. He’s knocked out (Alistair) Overeem. He beat Fedor (Emelianenko). It’s heavyweight. You can win some and lose some, but you’ve got to watch.”
