Dream Challenges Gargano for NXT North American Title

After the Superstars of NXT took center stage on Raw, members of the black-and-gold’s upper echelon will collide this week on WWE Network. Fresh off their successful Raw debuts, Johnny Gargano defends the NXT North American Title against Worlds Collide Tournament winner Velveteen Dream in the main event, and Aleister Black hunts for retribution against Undisputed ERA’s Roderick Strong. Plus, Mia Yim battles Xia Li and much more.

We are at Full Sail University and your announcers are Nigel McGuinness, Mauro Ranallo, and Percy Watson.

Aleister Black vs Roderick Strong

Strong with a single leg take down and he punches Black. Strong with an arm bar and he slaps Black in the back of the head. Black with an arm drag and palm strike to the chest. Black with knees to Strong followed by kicks. Black with a back elbow and German suplex for a near fall. Black is sent over the top rope to the floor on a back body drop and Strong with a drop kick through the ropes. Strong with a chop and back drop driver onto the ring steps. Strong sends Black back into the ring and he kicks Black in the back. Strong with a back breaker and he applies a rear chin lock with the knee in the back.

Black with punches but Strong wtih a take down and he tries for a cover. Strong with a front face lock. Black backs Strong into the corner and he does it again. Black with a forearm. Strong with a hard Irish whip to Black. Strong kicks Black to the floor. Strong runs Black back first into the apron and then back into the ring. Strong with a kick to the chest. Strong chops Black in the corner and puts him on the turnbuckles. Strong sets for a superplex and Black gets to the mat and goes for a power bomb but Black's back gives out and Strong with a back breaker for a near fall.

Strong goes for a suplex but Black with a knee to escape. Strong misses with a knee and Black with a series of strikes and a leg sweep and drop kick. Black with a quebrada to Strong. Strong with elbows but Black with a series of kicks. Black with a kick and brainbuster for a near fall. Black lifts Strong up but Strong with a kick but he misses a jumping knee. Black with a kick but Strong with a gutbuster. Black kicks Strong to the floor and Strong stops Black on the turnbuckles. Strong with a kick on the apron and then he gets Black in a torture rack and he tosses Black into the ring post.

Strong gets a near fall. Strong goes for the Strong Hold but Black iwth kicks to the head. Strong catapults Black's throat into the bottom rope and then he hits a running knee and a reverse Olympic slam for a near fall. Strong with strikes but Black gets to his feet and hits Black Mass for the three count.

Winner: Aleister Black

After the match, Kyle O'Reilly comes to the ring and Black with Black Mass to him. Adam Cole and Bobby Fish attack Black but Ricochet with a springboard cross body and then he stops Kyle and Cole. Black with a knee to Fish.

We see Serena Deeb and Sara Amato talking about the new signees and we hear Shayna Baszler arguing with some people. Serena and Sara separate them.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Bianca Belair says 2018 was her year. She had the match won at Takevoer but the referee was not in position. Now you have Io Shirai and Kairi Sane trying to take her spot. If you think she is going to gracefully step aside to give someone a title match before her? You have to wait for her to become champion before you get the chance. Then you will see why she is Un De Fea Ted.

We see footage of Johnny Gargano, Tommaso, Ciampa, Aleister Black, and Ricochet on Raw and Smackdown.

We are told that the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic is coming in two weeks and the winners will face War Raiders at Takeover for the NXT Tag Titles.

Undisputed Era, Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel, The Forgotten Sons, and Street Profits are the first teams announced. We will find out the other four teams next week.

Mia Yim vs Xia Li

They shake hands to start things off. They lock up and Mia with a take down but Xia holds on and they go back to their feet. Xia with a take down and Mia holds on. Mia with a hammer lock into a front face lock. Xia with an arm drag. Mia with a wrist lock. Xia misses a series of kicks but it backs Mia into the corner. Mia wants a test of strength. Mia with a take down and she gets a near fall. Mia with more near falls and Xia with a rollup for a near fall. Xia with a sunset flip for a near fall. Xia with a kick to the midsection. Mia with an Irish whip but Xia goes to the turnbuckles and leaps over Mia. Mia with a drop kick.

Mia with a cannonball for a near fall. Mia with strikes to Xia but Xia with strikes of her own followed by a kick for a near fall. Xia goes to the turnbuckles and misses a side kick and Mia with a back fist. Mia with Protect Ya Neck for the three count.

Winner: Mia Yim

After the match, Shayna Baszler attacks Mia and she is joined by Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke. MJ Jenkins and Lacey Lane come out and they fight off Shafir, Duke, and Baszler but they cannot maintain things. Shayna tells Mia to show her some respect. Shayna with a knee to the chest.

Johnny Gargano is in the back getting ready for his match against Velveteen Dream.

Candice LeRae checks on Johnny and she tells him he knows what to do. Tommaso Ciampa shows up and Candice wants to know why is he here. Tommaso says he is here if Johnny needs him. Johnny says he won this on his own so he does not need Ciampa. Johnny leaves and Tommaso says he will be watching.

We go to commercial.

We are back with comments from Matt Riddle. Jeremy Borash asks Matt about the non-traditional way to arrive at the WWE. Did he think about being more traditional. Matt says someone told him you want someone to tell you to tone it down than tone it up. He would rather be himself and it might be too much at times and someone might tell him to slow down. Matt says he is glad that he is done with Ohno. Now he can focus on what is important. He tapped out Drew Gulak two weeks ago and that is just the beginning. His goal is any championship he can get his hands on. Nothing is going to stop him . . . bro.

NXT North American Championship: Velveteen Dream vs Johnny Gargano

Dream goes for the legs but Gargano avoids him. Gargano goes for a drop toe hold and he eventually gets Dream down. Dream gets the advantage and Gargano gets to the ropes. They lock up and Gargano with a hammer lock into a front face lock. Dream tries to escape but Gargano holds on. Gargano with a rear chin lock. Dream with an arm bar. Gargano takes Dream to the mat and Gargano with a hammer lock. Gargano with a near fall. Gargano with a hammer lock and front face lock but Dream with a wrist lock.

We see Ciampa watching from the rafters. Dream and Gargano with reversals. Dream lands on his feet on an arm wringer and he punches Gargano. Johnny goes to the floor. Dream goes up top but decides just to get inside Johnny's head instead of doing anything. Gargano returns to the ring. Dream and Gargano with a Greco Roman Knuckle Lock but Dream with a side head lock. Dream holds on to the side head lock when Gargano tries to send Dream off the ropes. Gargano with forearms but Dream with a shoulder tackle. Gargano drops down and Dream gets in his face and then he slaps Gargano from the floor.

Dream with a double sledge for a near fall. Dream with a drop kick and punch. Dream with a forearm to the lower back. Gargano with chops and an Irish whip but Dream gets a boot up. Dream goes to the turnbuckles but Garagno with a sweep of the leg and Dream hits the mat hard. Gargano with a punch and he sends Dream into the turnbuckles. Gargano with a snap mare and drop kick to the back of the head for a near fall. Gargano makes Dream swing wildly with punches. Gargano with a punch. Gargano with a shoulder in the corner. Gargano with a chop.

Gargano and Dream exchange punches but Gargano gains the advantage. Gargano chokes Dream. Gargano with a neck breaker for a near fall. Gargano kicks Dream. Gargano with a chin lock while working over the arms. Gargano gets a near fall. Dream tries to get feeling back into his arm as he goes into the ropes. Gargano wraps the arm in the rope and the referee warns Gargano. Gargano stretches Dream in the ropes. Gargano with chops in the corner. Gargano misses a chop and Dream with punches. Gargano with an Irish whip that sends Dream over the top rope to the floor.

Gargano brings Dream around the ringside area and he chops Dream against the guardrails. Dream is sent back into the ring while Gargano celebrates on the floor. Dream with punches but Gargano punches back. Gargano with an abdominal stretch while holding the arm against Dream's body. Dream with a punch after escaping. Dream with a spinebuster and both men are down. Dream punches Gargano but Gargano punches back. Dream with a double thrust and head butt followed by punches. Dream with a kick and another boot to the head. Dream clotheslines Gargano over the top rope to the floor.

Dream goes up top and hits a double sledge on the floor. They return to the ring and Gargano misses a kick. Gargano escapes the swinging DDT but Dream with a Fameasser. Dream with a punch and he puts Gargano on the turnbuckles. Dream with a punch and he goes up top. Dream sets for a Super Death Valley Driver but Gargano escapes and tries for a sunset flip power bomb but Dream holds on. Gargano with a super kick and Flatliner from the turnbuckles for a near fall. Dream with a punch and Gargano punches back.

Dream sends Gargano into the turnbuckles and they bump heads and go down. Dream goes to the apron on an Irisih whip. They both go to the apron and Gargano with a super kick but Dream with a punch when Gargano goes for a slingshot DDT. Dream gets Gargano up and Gargano goes into the ring and kicks Dream off the apron. Gargano with a suicide dive. Dream with a kick when Gargano goes for a slingshot spear. Dream with a swinging DDT for a near fall.

Dream goes up top for the elbow drop and misses it. Gargano with a super kick for a near fall. Gargano goes up top and Dream goes to the turnbuckles. Gargano with head butts to Dream. Dream with a punch and Gargano hangs on the turnbuckles. Dream goes to the turnbuckles for a super Death Valley Driver but Gargano with elbows. Dream hits the super Death Valley Driver and he gets a near fall. Dream goes to the turnbuckles for the elbow drop but Gargano rolls to the floor. Dream comes off the turnbuckles and Gargano with a super kick. Gargano sends Dream into the ring steps and suplexes Dream onto the ramp.

Dream is sent back into the ring and Gargano with a slingshot DDT but Dream kicks out. Gargano picks up Dream and hits a clothesline. Gargano with another clothesline. Dream with a super kick but Gargano bounces off the ropes and hits a clothesline. Gargano sets for a super kick and Dream tells him to bring it. Dream gets Gargano up but Gargano escapes and hits a super kick. Dream with a rolling Death Valley Driver and he rolls through for a second one and then goes up top for the elbow drop and the three count.

Winner: Velveteen Dream
