AEW Dynamite: St. Patrick's Day Slam


This week on DYNAMITE, it's the St. Patrick’s Day Slam! Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. and Thunder Rosa look to settle the score in DYNAMITE’s first-ever Unsanctioned Lights Out Match. Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley will have revenge on their minds when they battle The Good Brothers. After their shocking betrayal of The Inner Circle, MJF and Wardlow join FTR, Shawn Spears, and Tully Blanchard to introduce their new group. The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes takes on Penta El Zero Miedo. Plus, fresh off her victory teaming with Shaq, Jade Cargill competes in her DYNAMITE singles match debut.

- This week's show kicks off with the opening video package, which leads directly into a live shot inside Daily's Place amphitheater in Jacksonville, FL. as Jim Ross welcomes us to the show with his regular show-starting catchphrase and the camera pans around the venue while fireworks and pyro erupts.

- Excalibur and Tony Schiavone join in along with J.R. on commentary as we see MJF’s new group arrive to the airport in their private plane and all get into a limo as they head to the venue.

Penta El Zero Miedo vs. Cody Rhodes (with Arn Anderson)

Penta gets right after Cody as the two spill out to the floor. Both wrestlers trading shots at ringside with Penta nailing Cody with a thrust kick, then sending him into the ring post. Back in the ring, Penta continues to work over Rhodes, couple chops to the chest, Cody asks for more and then hits a flapjack on his opponent.

Penta ducks a clothesline, lands a slingblade, cover, two. Cody looks for Cross Rhodes, nope, ends up taking a backstabber, weak pin by Penta for only two. Penta pulls a barricade down, and angles it upwards, facing the ring. Nothing happens with it as Penta gets Cody back in the ring and heads to the top rope. Rhodes swings at Penta and then heads to the top for a super hurricanrana. Penta focuses on Cody’s banged up shoulder Cross Rhodes, nope, ends up taking a backstabber, weak pin by Penta for only two. Penta pulls a barricade down, and angles it upwards, facing the ring. Nothing happens with it as Penta gets Cody back in the ring and heads to the top rope. Rhodes swings at Penta and then heads to the top for a super hurricanrana. Penta focuses on Cody’s banged up shoulder. Cody able to get Penta on his shoulers, Penta to the apron, kick to the head, Cody fires back with a disaster kick.

Penta down on the floor, Cody looks to fly and hits a suicide dive, sending Penta back against that propped up barricade. Penta in the ring, Cody follows and takes a kick as he enters. Cody recovers and hits a thrust kick, canadian destroyer, Cody cutter, cover, 1-2-no! Cody blocks a kick and plants Penta with cross rhodes, cover, and Penta kicks out! Cody lifts and drivers Penta neck-first on the mat, cover, two.

Penta smacks Cody, but gets pulled over to the ring post and Cody wraps Penta’s knee around the ring post. Back in the ring, Cody locks in the figure-four, but Penta gets to the rope for the break. Cody looks for a second figure-four, Penta counters into his arm breaker with his bad shoulder! Penta taunts a bit, Cody reaches up and rolls Penta up for the win.

Winner: Cody

– Post-match, Penta attacks and swings away on Rhodes. Gunn Club and Dustin Rhodes make the save as Penta taunts them at ringside. QT Marshall walks out to the stage and asks Cody if he is okay. The group is asking QT why he wasn’t out there to help.

– Backstage, Alex Marvez notes PAC and Rey Fenix still have a tag title shot against The Young Bucks. Matt says they may have lost singles matches to their challengers, but this is a tag match and they are still the best team in the world. Callis shows up and asks them how their dad is doing? They ask how his eye is doing?! Callis says he was just faking that black eye, but felt like maybe they should have kicked him. Callis says Matt and Nick aren’t the same guys he saw in NJPW. Matt and Nick may have founded this company, but he doesn’t see anything elite about them. Don continues that they have killed their careers and letting others take over. Callis mentioned Kenny Omega, says he’s way up high and those two are down in the basement, thus why he doesn’t pay any attention to them now. Callis says they are just another tag team in fancy tights that are living off their name, and then tells them to look in the mirror and ask themselves if they really are the same guy who dominated NJPW.

Jade Cargill vs. Dani Jordyn

Cargill talks some trash and flexes on her opponent. Cargill eats a back elbow, then drops her opponent with a pump kick. Cargill with a big release german suplex, kip up, Cargill lifts and drops Jordyn (finisher looks to be called The Jaded) to the mat, cover, and we’re done here.

Winner: Jade Cargill

– Post-match, Cargill goes right out to ringside and says something to Red Velvet. Velvet swings and Cargill dodges it. The two jaw some more as the referee gets Cargill to head to the back.

– Last week, we see MJF’s new group take out Inner Circle.

– MJF’s group comes out to the ring. Tully gets on the mic and recaps last week’s attack. He says they are at the pinnicle of wrestling right now. Tully says he started with the greatest group of guys, and he plans on finishing out his career with the greatest group. MJF on the mic, he calls himself Judas. MJF says he’s the most charismatic guy in the wrestling and had to stand behind Jericho for six months. He did what he had to do and deal with Jericho’s “comedy bulls***” but he was plotting the whole way.

MJF says Jericho never saw what was coming because everyone thought MJF was trying to take over the group. Ultimately, he wanted to kill the Inner Circle from the inside, and build an even stronger faction. MJF says the group is known as The Pinnacle. He then runs down each member of the group and hypes them up. MJF then gets to himself and says after only one year he’s the most talked about guy in pro wrestling. He continues that he has another 25 years in the business and when it’s all said and done, Jericho won’t be the goat, it will be him. MJF closes with his “I’m better than you, and you know it!”

Matt Hardy, The Blade, The Butcher, and Private Party with The Bunny vs. Jurassic Express and Bear Country

Hardy and Stunt get things started, but a full-on brawl breaks out shortly after. The bad guys get sent out to the floor, Stunt end up gets launched out to the floor on them, almost flying over everyone. Back in the ring, Hardy nails JB with a side effect. Luchasaurus tags in, lands some big boots on Private Party, then lands a flurry of strikes on both guys.

Blade gets into the match, but gets smoked and german suplexed across the ring. Private Party still trying to take down Luchasaurus, eats some kicks, Kassidy takes a chokeslam and then a standing moonsault, cover, and Butcher breaks it up. Headbutt to Butcher, but he runs over Luchasaurus with a lariat. Stunt with a big missile dropkick to the back of Butcher and runs back to the corner. Luchasaurus brings in Bronson, exploder suplex on Kassidy.

Stunt ends up tagging himself in during some confusion with his team. Kassidy hits a big boot on him. Stunt throws a bunch of kicks at Private Party. Hardy smacks Stunt on the back to allow Private Party to hit Gin and Juice. Hardy is asking for the tag, and gets it. Hardy lands twist of fate, cover, 1-2-3.

Winners: Matt Hardy, Private Party, The Butcher, and The Blade

– Post-match, Jurassic Express and Bear Country are seen arguing at ringside.

– Backstage, Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston are getting ready for their tag match tonight. Moxley says he’s not feeling super good after what happened at Revolution, but it’s time to go to war again. Moxley says it’s time to fix the real problem and that’s The Good Brothers. Moxley then mocks them a bit and says he doesn’t like them…and it’s not just because he wasted money on Talk ‘N Shop-A-Mania. Kingston then says to get a bit more serious — this isn’t the Impact Zone and this isn’t the Tokyo Dome. He calls Doc and Karl cowards, and a coward dies a thousand deaths. Moxley and Kingston are soldiers, and only die but once.

– Backstage, Dash talks with Christian Cage and asks him what brought him to AEW. Cage says when a wrestler busts his ass inside a ring more than anyone else in the roster, that’s called a “workhorse.” Cage says he is the workhorse in professional wrestling, and if anyone forgot about that over the past seven years, he will remind them quickly when he gets in the ring. Cage then says there’s only one spot that interests him and that spot is occupied by Kenny Omega. Cage says he got to let Omega last week he’s on borrowed time, and will see him down the road, but first he needs to pick up a few wins in AEW. Cage says he’s in AEW to cement his legacy and put to action three simple words: “Out. Work. Everyone.”

Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston vs. The Good Brothers

The fight starts out on the stage and works its way down to ringside. Doc and Karl hit the magic killer on Moxley on the floor! Kingston is thrown into the ring, and the match finally gets started as Anderson swings away on Kingston, cover, one-count. Doc and Karl beat up Kingston in the corner, stomping and choking him.

Kingston really needs to tag out as he can barely stand. Doc knocks Moxley down to the floor and chokes Kingston some more. It’s been all Good Brothers in this one so far. Kingston finally kick Doc and lands a diving shoulder tackle off the second rope. Karl tags in and takes an exploder suplex. Moxley finally tags in, hits a few clotheslines, release german suplex, shotgun dropkick that sends Karl into the corner. Moxley knocks Doc to the floor, and then stomps away on Karl in the corner.

Moxley hits a big lariat on Karl, looks for a piledriver and nails it, pin, Doc breaks that up. Moxley sends Doc out to the floor, Moxley lands a weak suicide dive on Doc. Back in the ring, Moxley walks right into a spinebuster. Doc and Karl with a dropkick/cutter combo. Kingston gets in there and eats a punch, back suplex/cutter combo. Doc with a cover on Moxley for only two. Kingston and Doc battle out on the floor as Kingston gets sent into the barricade. Moxley gets in a quick inside cradle for the 1-2-3.

Winners: Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston

– Post-match, Good Brothers beat up Moxley immediately after the bell rings. Kenny Omega’s music hits and out he strolls (really enjoying his music) with Don Callis. Omega has a chair in hand and sets it up in the middle of the ring. Omega sits down in front of Moxley, Kingston knocks him off the chair and gets taken down and takes a magic killer. Omega gets his chair back, they put it around Kingston’s ankle. Karl goes up to the second rope and stomps down on it. Omega yells like a madman by Kingston’s face and boots him out of the ring.

Omega then puts the chair around Moxley’s throat! Young Bucks run out and tell Anderson to get down. Omega tries to get up and do it, but Matt gets in the way. Good Brothers want a “Too Sweet.” Young Bucks are jawing with Omega as Kenny joins the hand gesture. Matt and Nick say no way and walk out of the ring. Omega spins Matt around and puts “Too Sweet” right in his face. The two sides yell at each some more as Moxley finally wakes up and swings wildly with that chair, clearing out the ring. Kingston is demanding the Dr. and referee get him in the ring with Moxley, but they won’t let him go in because of his injury. Kingston finally claws his way in to talk with his friend as we go to break.

– On the stage Tony Schiavone talks with AEW TNT Champion Darby Allin and Sting. Tony asks Allin about the Street Fight, but Allin says he’s been champion for a long time and has only defended the title three times. He says it’s a joke and wants to defend it every week. Allin says he wants to pay tribute to the best TNT Champion (Brodie Lee) and says there’s an open challenge to any Dark Order member. Lance Archer walks out and wonders how many times Sting is going to get interview by Tony.

Archer calls Allin an “indie-rific joke” and says if he likes coffins so much, Archer is going to put him in one. Roberts turns his attention to Sting and says he better not play with fire, and Archer is the baddest SOB in the compnay. He says the winds are changing in AEW and they better pay attention. Team Taz comes out, Brian Cage takes the mic from Taz and has something to say. He says Sting shows up like some hot shot and sticks his nose in their business after every week. Cage then says he respects Sting. With or without his bat, Ricky Starks is wrong, Sting is still the same as he’s ever been. Taz is wondering what the heck Cage is talking about?! Cage walks to the back with the rest of the group following behind.

– Scorpio Sky video package. Sky say he’s done everything he needs to do to become the face of the company. Sky says nice guys finish last, and that won’t happen again, he will not be someone else’s stepping stone. Sky says if he has to hurt someone to do it, so be it.

Angelico vs. Rey Fenix

Feeling out process between both wrestlers in the early stages of the match. Back and forth action as Fenix lands a big running cutter on Angelico, cover, two. Angelico fights back with an elbow to the back, then looks for the navarro death roll, but Fenix is immediately on the ropes for the break.

Fenix with a victory roll for a two-count, reversal into another two-count. Angelico nails a big enziguri, takes a thrust kick, and hits Fenix with a roundhouse kick. Fenix with a knuckle lock into a cruicifix bomb. Fenix gets Angelico on his shoulders, knee to the head and nails a sit-down piledriver, cover, 1-2-3.

Winner: Rey Fenix

– Earlier today, Alex Marvez talks with Miro in the gym. He asks about Chuck Taylor and Orange Cassidy’s rematch. Miro says he’s not interested and he has moved on. Kip Sabian walks in and says he hasn’t moved on, they ruined his wedding. Sabian tells Miro he should care more. He then mentions how Miro shoved one of those guys into Penelope Ford and she’s hurt. Miro tells Kip it’s the worst thing to have your wife at ringside. Miro tells Kip he wants to be World Champion, and that’s the only thing he cares about inside the ring. Outside the ring, they are still friends. Marvez asks Kip if they accept the match, and Kip says of course they do.

Unsanctioned Lights Out/Anything Goes Match: Britt Baker vs. Thunder Rosa

Rosa and Baker face-off in the ring. Rebel cracks Rosa in the back with a crutch! Rosa runs after her, they are out on the ramp, Baker follows and nails Rosa with an air raid crash on the ramp, cover, two. Baker looks under the ring and pulls out a chair. She hits Rosa with it, then taunts at the camera. Rosa gets up and launches the chair at Baker. She smacks Baker in the back with it and then drops Rebel with it. Rosa with another chairshot to Baker’s back.

Rosa brings Baker over the barricade, puts her in a chair, looks for a cannonball senton, but Baker moves. Baker brings Rosa back near the ring and they each throw shots at each other. Rosa thown into the stage as Jade Cargill looks on. Baker and Rebel bring out a table and set it up on the floor. Rosa crawling up the steps, Baker stomps Rosa’s face down into the steps. Baker brings out some more chairs and throws them in the ring. Rosa bleeding from the forehead.

Back and forth action in the ring as the two battle around a pile of chair. Rosa is put up on the top rope, Baker follows up and hits a superplex on the chairs! Rosa screaming in pain after that move, cover, two-count. Rebel pulls a ladder out and slides it over to Baker, but Rosa bulldogs Baker’s face into the ladder, pin, two-count. AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida watching on from the back. Running double knees into Baker’s face in the corner. Rosa shoves the ladder in front of Baker’s face down in the corner. Rosa with a dropkick, sending the ladder into Baker.

Baker is now bleeding quite a bit after that move. Rosa puts the ladder over the bottom rope and then goes over and bites Baker’s face. Britt with a thrust kick to Rosa’s face. Baker hits a flatliner, sending Rosa into the ladder. Rosa hits a sloppy death valley driver off the second rope and down on the ladder, cover, two-count.

Chair set up in the middle of the ring, Baker DDTs Rosa on it. She then curb stomps Rosa down on the chair, cover, two. A bloodied Baker smiles at the camera and brings out a huge back of thumbtacks! Baker puts a glove on her hand, looks for a swinging neckbreaker, no. Rebel gets in the ring, swings a crutch, misses, and takes a crutch to the head. She goes to the apron and gets dropkicked down to the table on the floor.

Rosa then powerbombs Baker down on the thumbtacks! Cover, two! While in the thumbtacks, Baker applies lockjaw, and Rosa ends up rolling Baker back into them to break the hold. Baker is up on the top rope, Rosa then hits a thunder driver through the table on the floor! She goes for the cover and that will do it!

Winner: Thunder Rosa
