Tony Khan Fires Back at Fan Saying AEW Will Never Win The Fight With WWE
AEW President Tony Khan has responded to a certain fan criticizing the promotion and the belief that his promotion will never be able to win the war with WWE.
It all started when Khan noted that you can never win a war over The Sopranos on Twitter. A fan responded with, “and you’ll never win a fight with the WWE.”
Khan fired back with, “That’s actually untrue according to their own sworn court filings.”
This is in reference to the recently amended lawsuit filed by MLW against WWE where they claimed the rival promotion tried to “clamp down on competitors” being able to monetize content, prevent competitors from running certain buildings that WWE uses for events, and tampering with talent.
Earlier this month, there was a motion filed to dismiss the case by WWE, which saw WWE acknowledge the creation and success of AEW as a way to show an example that they’re not a monopoly and to “undercut MLW’s unsupported assertion that substantial barriers to entry exist.”
Khan has alleged in the past that WWE had reached out to a lot of former stars who are working in All Elite Wrestling to see if they were interested in coming back. This happened around the time that Triple H took over creative from Vince McMahon last summer.
