D-Von Dudley Coming Out of Retirement - Wants New Contract with IMPACT

D-Von Dudley intends to wrestle on a regular basis after his match at IMPACT's 1000th episode of programming.

At IMPACT 1,000, D-Von teamed with Bully Ray to defeat Champagne Singh & Rohit Raju. For D-Von, this marked his first match in close to seven years. His previous match had been at House of Glory VI in December 2016, where he was part of a four-way tag match for the HOG Tag Team Championships.

D-Von impressed during his return match, and if the WWE/IMPACT Hall of Famer has his way, it won't be the last time he steps in the ring. In an update from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, it is stated that D-Von recently attended an autograph signing in Monroe, Michigan. At the event, D-Von said his return at the IMPACT 1,000 taping was not a one-time thing, and that he intends to come out of retirement. D-Von also said he wants to sign a new deal with IMPACT Wrestling.

This is quite the announcement from D-Von, given his history of medical issues. Speaking on Busted Open Radio last month, D-Von recalled suffering a stroke in 2020 and said that he "almost didn't make it." D-Von also recalled having extensive back surgery at roughly the same time.

Joining TNA Wrestling in 2005 under the name 'Brother Devon,' D-Von and 'Brother Ray' quickly established themselves as faces, taking issue with then-NWA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett. Team 3-D would become two-time and the inaugural TNA World Tag Team Champions, with D-Von becoming a two-time Television Champion. The pair were inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame in 2014.

Prior to IMPACT 1,000, D-Von's most recent match for the promotion had been at the September 19, 2014 tapings of TNA Impact, in which he and Bully Ray came up short in a Full Metal Mayhem tag-team match.
