Tammy Sytch Civil Lawsuit From Fatal DUI Crash Has Been Settled

A civil lawsuit has been settled involving Tammy Lynn Sytch, best known to wrestling fans as WWE Hall of Famer Sunny, stemming from her fatal DUI crash which resulted in the death of Julian Lasseter. The suit against Sytch was filed by Jana Olivova, who was inside another car that was also impacted in the incident.

PWInsider reports the lawsuit was set to go on trial on 7/8 before the Circuit Court of Volusia County, Florida. Olivola sought in excess of $50,000. While the original lawsuit was filed against Sytch, her fiancé at the time James Pente and Olivova's insurance company Geico, an amended lawsuit which was filed in July 2023 had only one defendant: Geico.

The original lawsuit read, “As a direct and proximate result of the negligence of Defendant, TAMARA SYTCH, Plaintiff, JANA OLIVOVA, suffered bodily injury including a permanent injury to the body as a whole, pain and suffering of both a physical and mental nature, disability, physical impairment, disfigurement, mental anguish, inconvenience, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, aggravation of an existing condition, expense of hospitalization, medical and nursing care and treatment, loss of earnings, loss of ability to earn money and loss of ability to lead and enjoy a normal life.”

"The losses are either permanent or continuing and Plaintiff will suffer the losses in the future. Plaintiff, JANA OLIVOVA also suffered other damages, including, but not limited to, loss of the use of the subject vehicle, damage to the subject vehicle. Plaintiff, JANA OLIVOVA, will suffer or incur the injuries, expenses and impairment in the future.”

The suit was later amended in July 2023, with Geico as the only remaining defendant. A notice filed earlier this month shows that the two sides had reached a settlement, with the details remaining undisclosed. The lawsuit is now filed for voluntary dismissal, an is awaiting a presiding judge’s official sign-off.

Sytch still has a wrongful death lawsuit against her, filed by the family of Julian Lasseter, who died in the accident. The trail begins on October 2.
