R.I.P Scott L. Scott L. Schwartz (former wrestler turned actor passes away at 65
Slam! Wrestling in Canada reported that former pro wrestler turned actor Scott L. Schwartz passed away earlier this week at 65 years old.
Schwartz, trained by WWE Hall of Famer Killer Kowalski wrestled regularly in the Northeast under the ring names Giant David and “The Israeli Commando” Joshua Ben-Gurion.
WrestleReunion promoter and former referee Sal Corrente paid tribute to Schartz, writing, "For the pro wrestling and acting community. I just saw that former wrestler Scott Schwartz who wrestled as The Giant David many years ago has passed. Scott has been an actor in LA for about 30 years. I would run in to him out there at events from time to time. He was an all around good guy a Gentleman Giant. We were on shows for Mark Tendler together back in the day. Absolutely a guy gone way too soon. He always seemed to have a big booming smile that went along with his giant size.”
Schwartz transitioned into acting and once that profession took hold, he only occasionally stepped back in the ring but retained his ties with the wrestling world through Cauliflower Alley Club and visits and appearances to events and conventions in the Los Angeles area. He appeared in tons of film and television projects over the years, including Buffy The Vampire Slayer, The Mentalist and more.
