Russian Customer Finds Corpse in Secondhand Car From Japan

A customer from Moscow had his secondhand SUV from Japan delivered to his doors with a rather unpleasant surprise — a partially decomposed dead body of a man inside, the Moskovsky Komsomolets daily reported on Sunday.

The newspaper quoted its sources in the Russian capital’s transport police as saying that the Mitsubishi Pajero SUV was delivered from Japan in a transport container by sea and by train. In Moscow, the SUV was unloaded from the container and towed to the customer, who had ordered and pre-paid the purchase. Only then the dead body was found in the passenger compartment.

Despite of current low temperatures in Russia, the body had partially decomposed. So far, police investigators have failed to identify the dead man, but they say that the body belonged to a man of Caucasian appearance about 40 years of age.

Police say that the dead man could be a stowaway who had got into the container at a train station and froze to death in the car. The other version is that the man was a victim of some gang war and the body was put in the car in the Far Eastern port as the car arrived from Japan.
