Ferry Crashes Into Ramp in England

SOUTHAMPTON, England (AP) - A car ferry collided Friday with a dockside ramp in this coastal city, and several people were reported injured, the coast guard said.

The Red Funnel car ferry, making the 10-mile journey from Cowes on the Isle of Wight to the southern English city of Southampton, hit the ramp while docking about 4:40 p.m.

A spokesman for Solent coast guard said the extent of the injuries was unclear, but said the collision was "quite a major incident."
