Get ready for a week of WrestleMania!
Most of the World Wrestling Entertainment Superstars won’t start popping up around the metro area for WrestleMania 23-related events until Wednesday, but that doesn’t mean Detroit can’t get the party started a couple of days before.
Hockeytown Café, 2301 Woodward in Detroit, will kick off the fan mania on Monday with a viewing party for the WWE’s Monday Night “Raw,” which airs live at 9 p.m. on the USA Network.
The show will be a premiere setup for marquee matches at WrestleMania: Two Main Events feature Batista and Undertaker (who will face each other for the World Heavyweight title at WrestleMania) teaming up against John Cena and Shawn Michaels (who will fight for the WWE title at WrestleMania) and in a surprise, 61-year-old WWE chairman Vince McMahon vs. Extreme Championship Wrestling titleholder Bobby Lashley.
But seeing as it’s the WWE, there are sure to be twists.
McMahon told the Free Press this week that “I’m taking on Bobby this Monday in a little different way than Mr. Lashley might expect.”
The partying at Hockeytown, which includes games and giveaways, goes on with different themes each evening until WrestleMania hits Ford Field on April 1.
