- Officially announced earlier today for “Manhattan Mayhem IV” on March 19th, The Kings of Wrestling will face the challenge of “The Notorious 187” Homicide & Hernandez (http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/the...e-a-challenge/)! Homicide called out the Kings during an interview filled with boasts & brags, and now Hero & Castagnoli will have to back it up in this non-title affair in the heart of ‘Cide’s hometown. “Homicide, I hate to be the one to break it to you…”, offered Shane Hagadorn on behalf of the KoW, “…but with everyone cheering for you in New York City, tu raza y familia, you are going to go down in flames. Chris and Claudio have proven time and again that ‘Kings Reign Supreme’ isn’t just a slogan or hype, it’s the truth. And you and that monster of a man will find it out the hard way, just like the Briscoes, the ANX, the Motor City Machine Guns, and Haas and Benjamin before you.” Tickets for “Manhattan Mayhem IV” are available here: http://www.rohstore.com/index.php?di...product_id=208!
– Roderick Strong was able to retain his ROH World Championship in the No Holds Barred Barrio Street Fight against Homicide last Saturday. The brutal fight saw Truth Martini and Michael Elgin interfere which ultimately led to the defeat of “The Notorious 187”. It was speculated that when Martini went out of his way to get ROH officials to abolish the rules that it was all to ensure that he and Michael Elgin could get involved. It is clear that Strong is showing signs of desperation in and out of the ring and it was obvious at the “9th Anniversary Show” as well as against El Generico in Los Angeles. Strong was also influential in issuing a “Hit List” for Michael Elgin to follow to ensure all the potential challengers are softened up or, to a larger extent, taken out for good. Strong’s future is not without challengers. Strong heads into his 6th defense at “Manhattan Mayhem IV” on 3/19 in New York City against Eddie Edwards and, if he can retain, he will head into Atlanta on 4/1 to face “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels. Besides Edwards & Daniels, men like El Generico, Homicide, and Davey Richards are all looking at future Title shots and each wrestler still has unfinished business with Strong. Not withstanding the deceitful behavior, Strong has been very impressive in all 5 of his defenses, but the question remains if he can live up to his claim as “Greatest ROH Champion of All Time”?????
- And speaking of those looking for future title shots, it was announced earlier today that three men will have an opportunity to claim such a shot when ROH returns to Plymouth, MA on 3/18/11 for “Defy or Deny” (http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/defy-or-deny/). El Generico, Homicide, & Jay Briscoe will all have a chance to earn a shot at the belt by winning this 4 Way Elimination bout, but ROH World Champ Roderick Strong will also have to chance to block them all from a future title shot by surviving the contest. Tickets for ROH’s New England return are available here: http://www.rohstore.com/index.php?di...product_id=207.
- Christopher Daniels and Eddie Edwards went to a Thirty Minute Draw in their 2/3 Falls ROH TV Title bout with one fall respectively last Saturday night on iPPV. The match was a truly fantastic contest but the ending made for a very scary moment. During the final minute of the match, Daniels was cut open and then fell hard into the guard rail. Time expired with Daniels visually loopy and injured. The fans chanted “5 more minutes”, but it was clear that Daniels was hurt. Many officials and staff including Jim Cornette came out to check the situation and it was immediately determined that Daniels was in no shape to continue. Daniels was attended to backstage and was feeling okay after the show ended. Daniels has informed ROH officials that he is scheduled to see a doctor this week to ensure no long term problems.
- Speaking Christopher Daniels, after he defeated Michael Elgin with a quick rollup last Friday in Dayton, OH he was immediately attacked by Elgin and Truth Martini. Elgin held Daniels but before Truth could hit him with The Book of Truth, El Generico ran in to make the save and chased both men off. Truth accidentally dropped his book while trying to escape the ring and Daniels picked it up and walked out with The Book of Truth in hand. Following the incident Daniels stated that he planned to review the book to see if it could add anything to his strategy against Strong in their potential match on 4/1 in Atlanta.
- The All Night Express (Rhett Titus & Kenny King) have officially signed to compete for our returns to Plymouth, MA on 3/18 and NYC for “Manhattan Mayhem IV” on 3/19! Both men had a fantastic showing last weekend and are now looking to do whatever it takes to get a rematch at the ROH Tag Team Championships.
- Prince Nana and his new entourage are looking to make a mark on 3/18 in Plymouth, MA and on 3/19 NYC at “Manhattan Mayhem IV.” A lot of questions remain unanswered when it comes to the Embassy and its future potential. The Embassy has had its ups and downs over the years and always comes close, but has never been able to taste ROH gold. Expect a word from the Embassy soon here at ROHwrestling.com.
- It is not only worth going out of your way to see the Six Man Tag Main Event from last Fridays “World’s Greatest” event in Dayton, OH when the DVD becomes available, but Eddie Edwards vs. Kenny King is an equally impressive display of athleticism and physicality. You won’t be let down.
