Sting: My Career Will Not Be Ending at AEW All In 2023
AEW's resident icon Sting will not be retiring at the much-anticipated All In pay-per-view, despite what some believe.
All In 2023 will take place this August inside Wembley Stadium in London, England. The show will mark AEW's first event in England, as well as its first event outside of North America. With over 65,000 tickets sold for AEW All In 2023, the event will be the promotion's highest-attended event in history. No matches have been announced for All In at this time.
With All In set to be AEW's biggest-ever event, rumors have circulated that Wembley will see Sting's final match. The 64-year-old inductee into the WWE and IMPACT Wrestling Hall of Fame has spoken about his retirement in the past, saying last December that he's plotted out his "end game."
Despite rumors of hanging up his boots and facepaint after All In, Sting refuted the idea during the AEWxNJPW: Forbidden Door II post-show media scrum.
“I have not decided on a date for sure. A lot of people have actually wondered if I was gonna retire in Wembley. That would be kinda cool, but I don’t see that happening. I think I’m gonna continue on. Tony’s kinda been in my ear a little bit here and there, saying, ‘Steve, you can stay as long as you want!’ So I’m not sure how long that’ll be. But like I said a few months ago, ‘Showtime is just about over with,’ and it truly is."
Speaking about All In, Sting shared his excitement to returning to London.
"I’m looking forward to going back to London. Last time I was there… I was Joker Sting and the crowd loved it. It was not the big arena, the big stadium. It was just the arena, but still, great crowd. And I’m looking forward to heading back over there.”
Sting will next compete on this week's AEW Dynamite, where he and Darby Allin will face Sammy Guevara and Chris Jericho in a tornado tag-team match.
