Harley Cameron Credits WWE for Green Card, Wrestling Training
AEW star Harley Cameron has revealed that WWE played a crucial role in her journey to becoming a professional wrestler, helping her secure a green card and access to training despite never signing with the company.
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show on December 22, Cameron explained how WWE’s involvement set her career in motion.
"I will say thank you to [WWE] because thanks to them, I have my green card. Thanks to them, I learned to wrestle. They helped me with my wrestling training to Flatbacks,” she said.
The Australian-born wrestler trained at Flatbacks Wrestling School in Orlando, Florida under Tyler Breeze and Shawn Spears beginning in 2021. However, plans for Cameron to join WWE fell through when personnel changes occurred within the company.
"I believe they went through transitional stages where in their office, certain people were perhaps released from the company,” Cameron noted.
Without her green card, Cameron worked unpaid at independent wrestling events while waiting for authorization to be compensated for her work. The setback ultimately led to opportunity when AEW came calling in 2022.
"After being in this country for so long and knowing that I want to be a professional wrestler, and this door opened for me, I went to AEW, and I’m so glad I did because I feel like it’s where I was meant to be,” Cameron said.
Her persistence paid off. On December 11, 2024, Cameron and Willow Nightingale defeated the Timeless Love Bombs to become the inaugural AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions at Dynamite: Winter is Coming, marking Cameron’s first championship in professional wrestling.
“I think that sometimes when you think the universe is saying no to you, it’s because it has other plans,” Cameron reflected.
