John Cena Discusses Post-Retirement Role With WWE
17-time World Champion John Cena recently discussed his future with WWE.
During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated's The Takedown, Cena, who retired from pro wrestling last year, shared his thoughts on staying involved with the company and his goals for contributing to the wrestling business.
Cena expressed enthusiasm about his current relationship with WWE. He mentioned enjoying watching the product and having fun during his recent appearances.
"It's great, physically, I feel great," Cena said. "Gosh, I love watching the product. As you saw, I was having a bunch of fun at WrestleMania. Really looking forward to the future and my future role in WWE."
The longtime WWE superstar highlighted his desire to give back to the industry that shaped his career. Cena explained that his focus centers on finding ways to provide value to WWE beyond in-ring competition.
"I just want to try to develop a way to pay it back and pay it forward for all the moments I was able to have," Cena said. "My goal is to leave the business better than I found it and there has to be some acumen behind it. (This is) a chance for the business to continue to get energy from me, because they've given me so much energy."
Cena has remained connected to WWE through various appearances this year. The veteran performer continues to explore opportunities to contribute to the company in different capacities.
