WWE Expected to Make "Minor" Releases Before July 1

The WWE roster will be shrinking slightly within a matter of weeks, according to a report from Wrestle Votes.

WWE's roster has seen major changes over the past couple of years, with mass layoffs from 2020 to 2022. At the time these releases were blamed on budget cuts, an explanation many scrutinized given that the promotion was boasting record profits. Once Triple H became WWE's Head of Talent Relations, the Game wasted no time in rehiring names, including Karrion Kross, Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman, and others. Earlier this year, it was reported that WWE has implemented a 'hiring freeze' that has resulted in some free agents signing with other promotions.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Wrestle Votes noted that there will be a "minor batch of releases," that are likely to occur before July 1. That date is also the same as WWE Money in the Bank, which will take place in London, England for the first time ever. These reported cuts will be as a way for WWE to help "balance their books."

Wrestle Votes made it clear that they don't know any names who are on the proverbial chopping block, just that a source has said to expect cuts. In addition to rehirings, Triple H's era as Head of Talent Relations has seen some cuts. Six Superstars have been cut from NXT under the Game's regime, namely, Bodhi Hayward, Sloane Jacobs, Erica Yan, Damaris Griffin, and Ru Feng. Earlier this year, WWE CEO Nick Khan said that while cuts are expected to be made following the Endeavor deal, they should not affect the on-screen product.
