Viewership data is in for the January 1st editions of AEW Dynamite and NXT TV. AEW had a strong showing up against NXT, which aired a “2019 Year-End Awards” highlights show for the New Year’s Day holiday. The ‘Wednesday Night War’ resumes next week when both shows are live head-to-head once again.

Here is the breakdown of the live and same-night DVR viewership, courtesy of ShowbuzzDaily:

AEW Dynamite on TNT averaged 967,000 viewers with a 0.36 rating in the 18-49 demo, way up from 683,000 viewers and a 0.25 demo rating back on December 18th.

This week’s Dynamite was touted as a “Homecoming” for AEW and the 2020 Season Premiere. It was a stacked show that was widely very well-received. Highlights included Cody Rhodes vs. Darby Allin, a 4-way match for the AEW Women’s Championship, Jon Moxley in action and a red-hot main event that saw The Elite vs. PAC and the Lucha Bros.
