The "Respect is Earned" PPV debuted on Dish Network this weekend. I was in attendance at the PPV and thought it was one of the better shows live that the company had put together in some time. The first half was extremely strong with Briscoes vs. Matt Sydal & Claudio Castagnoli particularly being a blow away bout. If anyone sees the PPV, we're looking for feedback so email me by clicking my name above. I'm most interested in hearing from those who were sampling the product for the first time. I'll have my own thoughts once the PPV airs on In Demand on 7/20, if not sooner.

Austin Aries and Chris Hero have both signed contracts with the promotion. Aries' deal was a pretty big for the company since it was a focal point of the second PPV taping on 6/23. ROH and TNA negotiated with each other and came to terms in order to pave the way for the deal. The company had wanted Aries from day one of signing talent and were really happy internally about getting him back full-time. For those who have asked, the ROH deals are pretty much two year deals with many of the talents receiving health coverage as part of the deal. From speaking to many of those who were signed, I get the impression they received small raises as well, paving the way for many of them to make wrestling their full-time career.

Matt Sydal, who has been a regular here, is scheduled to appear at Monday's TNA taping in Orlando, Florida. I believe it's something of a tryout deal. Sydal hasn't signed a ROH deal and is expected to work regularly for Dragon Gate in Japan this summer. He's becoming a pretty wanted free agent. The ROH storyline as to why Sydal is appearing in TNA is that his manager "Superagent" Larry Sweeney brokered that deal. It's a pretty clever way of trying to translate any heat towards Sweeney.

As expected, the Deer Park Community Center will be the new site for the company's 7/27 in Long Island. The venue is tiny, so somehow I don't expect it to be a new regular stop for the company but they needed somewhere to run to make good for all of those who bought tickets for the old venue in Lake Grove. The Long Island crowds traditionally have been more localized casual fans and families as opposed to the more hardcore, inside fans you would see in New York City, so I'm curious to see how many of them follow to the new venue. The main event for the show is off the charts on paper, with ROH Tag Team champions The Briscoes vs. Bryan Danielson & Nigel McGuinness, plus the opening rounds of the Race to the Top tournament. Competing in the tournament are the returning Jack Evans, Davey Richards, Pelle Primeau, Jigsaw, BJ Whitmer, Erick Stevens, Claudio Castagnoli, Chris Hero, El Generico, Kevin Steen, Delirious, Brent Albright, Matt Cross, Mike Quackenbush, Matt Sydal and Hallowicked.

Ring of Honor will tape their third PPV on 9/15 back in Chicago Ridge, Illinois.

The date of the next Manhattan Center event in New York City following 8/24 will be Saturday 11/4.

The next several ROH events will be in Japan. ROH President Cary Silkin, Vice President Syd Euck, booker Gabe Sapolsky are going, as are some of the production team. If anyone reading this attends the events, we are seeking live reports. The Japanese tour lineups are set as:
