CZW Reuslts - 10th June 2006

CZW returned to the ECW Arena last night before a small crowd..certainly small compared to the previous evening's TNA show. The show overall was a good one, but seen by far too few people.

The show started off with Kevin Steen coming to the ring talking about the first IWS 4-way match at a CZW show, and how he's going to "attempt to recapture the magic tonight".

In a forgettable match, Max Boyer defeats Chris Bishop, Lionel Knight, Jeff Fleury, Matt Bison, and Nick Watts when Boyer pins Bishop after rolling through on a moonsault.

Danny Havoc (replacing El Generico) defeats Hallowicked and Jigsaw in a ladder match, taking his usual insane bumps.

Beef Wellington and Larry Sweeney go to a no-contest after BLKOUT interferes. In one of the few loud pops last night, the crowd popped bugtime for Wellington's return, a comedy match favorite. BLKOUT rans in and beats the crap out of Sweeney. H8 Club came out to make the save.

Adam Flash and Pandora defeat Sexxxy Eddy and LuFisto after Flash pins LuFisto with the Last Call. Post-match, LuFisto trashes Chrissy Rivera, valet of Niles Young who was sitting in the crowd. Young and Rivera come into the ring and jump her, ebfore SexxyEddy makes the save.

This match was remarkable for the fact that Sexxy Eddy was even there...given the fact that his sister, Alexandra Dorozowsky passed away Thursday. He also got up after one frightening looking botched spot where he landed on his head. LuFisto's Philadelphia debut was also great. (Note to Vince McMahon, yes...Vince, woman wrestlers in America CAN work. Watch LuFisto, or get a tape of SHIMMER.)

In a really good match that the crowd didn't seem to care much about, Derek Frazier defeated B-Boy by pinfall.

Kevin Steen defeats Necro Butcher, Messiah, BJ Whitmer and DJ Hyde (yes, BJ Whitmer arrived unannounced...and joined the match, after taking out Messiah) in a Tables, Chairs, and Kaos match, after pinning Whitmer with a scary-looking middle-rope Package Piledriver through a table onto tacks that were on the mat

In the post-intermission match, Jon Dahmer defeats Ravage after the Move of 1000 Maniacs on the ramp.

Maven Bentley, then came out (Tournament of Death location announcement? Nah.) and called out Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli, questioning how Hero won the belt (in CZW's version of a "Money in the Bank" stipulation, where hero defeated Ruckus for his CZW World Title. Bentley scheduled a CZW title defense on the spot...with Hero and Castagnoli against each other.

In an incredible match that might be worth getting the tape alone (from Smart Mark Video), Chris Hero defeats Claudio Castagnoli after a tuck moonsault in 18 minutes. This was a great match, and seemed to be an implied reward for those fans who did attend the show.

The Forefathers of CZW (Nick Gage, Justice Pain, Zandig and Lobo) and BLKOUT (Eddie Kingston, Joker, Ruckus and Sabian) fight to a no-contest after Beef Wellington, Steen, Max Boyer, Chris Bishop, Lionel Knight, Jeff Fleury, Matt Bison, and Nick Watts (the Canadians...being turned heel?) jumped Gage, Pain, Zandig and Lobo.

In what appears to be a booking re-set, BLKOUT is left alone with Zandig in the ring, and they go back heel, beat the ever-loving shit out of him, cut his hair, and attempt to incite a riot in the crowd. Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli (also turning?) make the save for Zandig.

Post-match, Zandig made reference to the advertised Ring of Honor July 15 Philadelphia show, in which ROH advertises a ROH vs. CZW Steel Cage Match, and said that CZW will only take on Ring of Honor in a Cage of Death. Assuming that means CZW's Cage of Death is being brought to the Northeast Philadelphia Armory, that could result in a killer crowd.

NOTES: Tournament of Death tickets went on sale. No location has been named as of yet, other than CZW printing "Smyrna, DE" on the tickets. No word on what, if anything, was wrong with last year's venue in New Castle, DE, which was more easily accessible to many fans than Smyrna, DE would be.

Nothing whatever was done for the fans who were screwed by the Best of The Best show from the previous month running long, who had to miss parts of CZW and Ring of Honor, or miss Ring of Honor's Edison, NJ show altogether, even after being promised by CZW staff that there would be no problem making both shows. This lack of fan service showed in the amount of people in the crowd last night; as the show had to compete with the Bernard Hopkins-Antonio Tarver fight down in Atlantic City, NJ (in what was Hopkins's last fight, won in an upset by Hopkins). CZW also lost out to the TNA June 10 show in Wayne, NJ, taking away those who regularly come down from North/Central Jersey and New York, as well as the previous night's show at the ECW Arena. If people feel slighted, they may choose to make other choices, and it appears a number of people did last night; with the crowd size down considerably from Best of the Best.
