MOST award nominees will say that it's an honor just to be nominated, but it wasn't enough for some Justin Bieber fans during Sunday's 53rd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony.
After Bieber was beat by Best New Artist Grammy Award by jazz singer Esperanza Spalding, outraged fans of the 16-year-old Canadian teen pop sensation immediately attacked Spalding's Wikipedia page.
It wasn't long after Spalding's surprise win - she also edged out Florence & The Machine, Mumford & Sons and Drake - that visitors to her Wikipedia page were informed that her middle name was either "Quesadilla" or "Justin."
Spalding's biography also got a makeover, appended with "SHE IS F****** REATARD THAT NO ONE HAS HEARD OF SO B**** PLEASE DIE !"
In the section on Spalding's collaborations with other jazz artists, one Bieber fan added, "She now has the 2011 Grammy for being the Best new Artist! Even though no one has ever heard of her! Yay!"
Other Bieber fans edited the page to include messages like "JUSTIN BIEBER DESERVED IT GO DIE IN A HOLE. WHO THE HECK ARE YOU ANYWAY?" and "BIBER 4 LYFE !"
This is not the first time hardcore fans of the Baby singer - also known as "Beliebers" - have wreaked havoc in their enthusiasm for or defence of their idol.
One New York teenager's phone was flooded with calls and messages after his number was posted online by someone claiming it was Bieber's.
Fans also tweeted death threats to Disney star Selena Gomez after photos emerged of her and Bieber in an apparent romantic moment aboard a Caribbean yacht.
Bieber was also nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album for his My World 2.0, but lost out to Lady Gaga's The Fame Monster. Lady Gaga's Wikipedia page did not appear to suffer the wrath of Bieber fans.
