Chris Cairns brought down the curtain on a fine international career

New Zealand win bowl out 3-0
New Zealand and West Indies tied the Twenty20 International in Auckland before the hosts won a bowl-out 3-0 to give them an unofficial win.

New Zealand restricted the Windies to 126-7 and then made a flying start, Lou Vincent hitting 42 off 27 balls.

But they then collapsed and Shane Bond and James Franklin - who hit the final ball for four - had to score 15 off the last over to tie the scores.

In his final international, Chris Cairns failed to fire with bat or ball.

He scored two runs off nine balls and bowled four wicketless overs, costing 24. But, at the end of a glittering career, he rolled back the years twice.

First, he pulled off a sensational run out of Dwayne Smith with a backhand flick when following through a delivery in his first over, and then took a fine running catch off Bond in the last over of the West Indies innings.

Bond bowled a terrific spell, taking 2-15 in his four overs after the hosts had won the toss at Eden Park.
Daren Ganga and Shivnarine Chanderpaul each hit 26 but no other West Indies batsman reached 20.

In the bowl out, Bond struck the stumps twice, and Scott Styris once, with four Windies bowlers missing the stumps with both attempts.

Kiwi captain Stephen Fleming was not over-enamoured by his team's performance with the bat.

He said: "Our batting was pretty dumb. We just got caught up in trying to get the game won and play the big shots and please the crowd, and no one really did any hard work."

Of Cairns, he said: "It's very sad to see him go. He was very emotional during the day and we're very sad to see such a great player leave our side."
