New Japan Pro-Wrestling will make their way to Long Beach, California for Resurgence in less than three weeks. The card continues to take shape, with the most recent talent announcement featuring a former AEW World Champion.

On Sunday, May 21, Jon Moxley will be in action, marking his first NJPW appearance in seven months. Last October, Moxley appeared at The Night Before Rumble on 44th Street in New York City. There, he competed in a 12-man elimination tag team match alongside Amazing Red, Eddie Kingston, Homicide, and CHAOS (Kazuchika Okada & YOH). His team, of course, emerged victorious after defeating Bullet Club (El Phantasmo, Jay White & Juice Robinson) and Team Filthy (Jorel Nelson, Royce Isaacs & Tom Lawlor).

It remains to be seen who Moxley will face at NJPW Resurgence, as his official opponent has not been announced yet.

Who will step up to face "The Purveyor of Violence"?

With the addition of Jon Moxley, Resurgence will now showcase two stars from All Elite Wrestling. The first was Willow Nightingale, who will compete in a four-person tournament to determine the inaugural NJPW Strong Women's Champion. "The Babe With The Power" will battle STARDOM representative Momo Kohgo in the semi-finals. The winner of that bout will then move to face the winner of Stephanie Vaquer vs Mercedes Moné in the finals.

A semi-finals matchup in the IWGP United States Championship Contenders tournament will also take place at Resurgence. There, Hiroshi Tanahashi will square off with Will Ospreay as the look to advance to the finals to face Lance Archer. The victor of that tournament will earn a future title shot against reigning IWGP United States Champion Kenny Omega.
