Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre in the house following chaotic brawl
Last week's SmackDown featured a heinous attack on Jacob Fatu and a chaotic Undisputed WWE Title Match between Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre that ended in a disqualification win for McIntyre when The American Nightmare blasted The Scottish Psychopath with the championship. Now, Rhodes and McIntyre prepare for a title clash at Saturday Night's Main Event on Nov. 1.
The show kicks off with a video recapping what went down between Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes last Friday.
Cody Rhodes walks backstage. Jimmy Uso walks up and thanks Rhodes for sticking up for Jacob Fatu. Rhodes asks Jimmy if things are good between him and Jey Uso. Jimmy says he doesn't know, and Rhodes tells him to do what's right for him.
Michael Cole and Corey Graves greet audiences at home as Cody Rhodes makes his way to the ring.
Rhodes asks Tempe what they want to talk about, then says they could talk about McIntyre.
McIntyre's voice cuts off Rhodes, and he makes his way to the ring through the crowd as he asks Tempe if they're really going to cheer for Rhodes. He says everyone always calls him a scapegoat and says he's innocent, then says he saw him talking to Jimmy Uso at the top of the show and say she's always the bridesmaid and never the bride.
Rhodes tells McIntyre that enough is enough, then tells him that he'll fight him now. Jimmy blindsides McIntyre from behind and fires off right hands on him, then sends him crashing over the announce desk. The two men continue to brawl until security pulls them apart. As all this goes on, Solo Sikoa with The MFTs (JC Mateo, Talla Tonga, Tonga Loa and Tama Tonga) come out and Sikoa locks eyes and smiles maniacally.
Drew McIntyre argues with Nick Aldis backstage. Jimmy Uso attacks McIntyre and security runs in to break them up again.
Shinsuke Nakamura and Rey Fenix vs. JC Mateo and Tama Tonga (w/ Solo Sikoa, Talla Tonga, and Tonga Loa)
Tama and Nakamura begin the action. The bell rings and Tama wastes no time going after Nakamura. He runs over him with a shoulder tackle, but Nakamura lands a knee on Tama and tags in Fenix as Mateo tags in on his side. Fenix delivers an arm drag to Mateo using the top rope, but Nakamura tags back in. Fenix delivers a strike to Mateo's midsection, then jams his boot into Mateo as Fenix does the same. Fenix then tags back in, but Mateo levels him as the referee is distracted by Nakamura.
Mateo rakes his thumb into Fenix's eyes, then tags in Tama. Tama wears down Fenix, but Mateo tags back in and fires off stomps on Fenix in the corner during the commercial break. Tama tags back in, but Fenix fires off right hands on Tama back from the break. Tama turns Fenix inside out with a clothesline, then tags Mateo back in.
Mateo lands a Samoan Drop on Fenix, but Fenix manages to tag in Nakamura. Nakamura fires off a few kicks on Mateo, but Mateo responds with Tour Of The Islands to Nakamura. Tama then tags in and lands a splash on Nakamura in the corner, but Nakamura fends him off and tags in Fenix. Fenix delivers a moonsault to Tama off the top rope and pins him, but Tama kicks out.
Sikoa distracts the referee, allowing Talla to chokeslam Fenix on the ring apron. Tama then levels Fenix with a running forearm for the win.
Winners: JC Matel and Tama Tonga
We then head backstage, where Jimmy Uso demands to get his hands on Drew McIntyre from Nick Aldis. Aldis offers Jimmy a match, but Jimmy says he wants a fight against McIntyre. Aldis then agrees to give him a No Disqualification Match later tonight.
We then head over and see Giulia approached by Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre in an attempt to get her to join their tanks in the Secret Hervice before Kiana James catches them.
Back at ringside, Tiffany Stratton makes her way out. James and Giulia follow.
Tiffany Stratton vs. Kiana James (w/ Giulia)
James whips Stratton into the corner, but Stratton delivers a Swanton Bomb to James off the top rope. She ascends back up to the top and delivers a Prettiest Moonsault Ever to James before pinning her for the win.
Winner: Tiffany Stratton
After the match, Giulia blindsides Stratton from behind. She connects with the Arrivederci Knee on Stratton, but Jade Cardill's music hits and she makes her way out. She levels Giulia with a pump kick and sends James crashing off the apron with a forearm strike, then extends her hand out to Stratton. Stratton takes it and Cargill helps her up. The pair shake hands, and Cargill raises Stratton's hand...but then clotheslines Stratton out of nowhere! She sends Stratton crashing into the ring post shoulder first and dumps her out of the ring, then sends her crashing into the ring steps and over the announce desk. She fires off stomps on Stratton as officials look to pry Cargill off Stratton, but Cargill pushes one of them aside and fires off another stomp on Stratton. She picks up the WWE Women's Championship.
Ijla Dragunov walks backstage. Sami Zayn approaches him and congratulates him on beating him. Dragunov gives Zayn props about doing the open challenge. Zayn says he's passing the Open Challenge Saga off to him and says he believes Dragunov is the guy to do it. Dragunov is all pumped up and leaves.
Jade Cargill walks backstage. Cathy Kelley asks Cargill why she attacked Stratton. Cargill says the world doesn't respect patience but power and she's not asking for it, she's taking it.
Ijla Dragunov comes out of the ring to kick off his Unites States Championship Open Challenge. Dragunov says his recovery had some highs and lows and that he missed the WWE. He says there were times where he didn't see the light at the end of the tunnel but everyone knows giving up is not something he knows how to do. He says he won the title from a great man and it's his duty to continue the legacy of the open challenge and tonight pain will entertain us.
WWE United States Championship Open Challenge: Ijla Dragunov (c) vs. Aleister Black (w/Zelina Vega)
The bell rings and Dragunov levels Black with a right hand. Vega lands a diving hurricanrana on Dragunov off the apron as Black distracts the referee, and Black follows it up with a kick to Dragunov on the outside off the apron.
Back from the break, Black and Dragunov exchange right hands with one another. They land boots on one another, but Dragunov lands a pair of boots on Black in the corner. Dragunov lands a pair of German suplexes on Black, then rains down elbow strikes on him and sends him crashing into the mat spine first.
Dragunov ascends to the top rope, but Vega hops up on the apron to distract him. Black runs over Dragunov with a meteora off the middle rope, then connects with a Northern Lights suplex on him and goes for a pin. Dragunov kicks out.
During another commercial break, Black and Dragunov teeter on the ropes. Dragunov fires off headbutts on Black, then sends him crashing off them and connects with a dropkick on him. He ascends back up to the top rope, then delivers a senton to him and goes for a pin. Black kicks out.
Black catches Dragunov with a vertical suplex and pins him, but Dragunov kicks out and delivers the Torpedo Moskau to Black. Vega trips Dragunov, but the referee catches her. Black looks to take advantage by clocking Dragunov from behind, but the referee ejects Vega from ringside. While Vega protests, Damian Priest's music hits and he marches down to the ring to distract Black. This opens the door for Dragunov to connect with a second Torpedo Moskau on Black for the win.
Winner and STILL United States Champion: Ijla Dragunov
After the match, Priest gets in the ring and starts punching out Aleister Black. Black is thrown out of the ring and kicked onto the announce desk. Priest continues to punch Black and then Priest grabs two chairs. Black is thrown back on the announce desk and he sets a chair under him. Vega jumps off the apron onto Priest's back and gauges his eyes. Vega and Black escape and Priest poses on the announce desk.
Cathy Kelley talks to Carmelo Hayes backstage. Hayes says The Miz taught him a lot and he's grateful for that. He says he had to get even because The Miz put his hands on him. He says, he and The Miz are even now and there are no grudges. Hayes says he's ready to get back on track and start his SmackDown journey again. Kit Wilson interrupts his interview and Hayes challenges him to a match next week.
Ilja Dragunov walks backstage. Axiom and Nathan Frazer ask when they get a shot at the title. Dragunov says the open challenge is for everyone and leaves. DIY and Candice LeRae come up and make fun of Fraxiom. Tama Tonga comes up and threatens them with hand gestures.
Cathy Kelley talks to Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. She talks to them about defending their titles. Nia Jax comes by and says she's waiting for one of them to stab the other in the back. Flair says she used to be jaded like Jax but she now has healthy relationships. Jax talks about Bliss turning her back on her and Bliss tells her she's changed but the old Bliss isn't hard to find. A match is set for Bliss and Jax for next week.
Drew McIntyre makes his way to the ring. Jimmy Uso follows.
No Disqualification Match: Drew McIntyre vs. Jimmy Uso
The bell rings and Jimmy fires off chops on McIntyre. The two men get in the ring, and McIntyre fires off right hands on Jimmy. Jimmy sends McIntyre's head bouncing off the ring steps on the outside, and the two men brawl through the crowd with one another. Jimmy lands a suplex on McIntyre on the floor, then grabs a table from under the ring when the two return to the ringside area during the commercial break.
McIntyre sends Jimmy crashing into one of the barricades spine first back from the break, but Jimmy lands an enzuigiri on McIntyre that sends him crashing back out of the ring. McIntyre responds with a belly-to-belly suplex on Jimmy on the floor, then dumps him back in the ring and goes for a pin. Jimmy kicks out.
McIntyre grabs a chair and cracks it across Jimmy's spine, then sets it up and sends Jimmy crashing into it face first. He sits Jimmy on the chair and sets up for the Claymore Kick, but Jimmy moves out of the way and sends McIntyre crashing into the chair with a drop toe hold.
Jimmy lands a shoulder tackle on McIntyre off the middle rope face first, then goes for a pin. McIntyre kicks out, but Jimmy repeatedly hits McIntyre with the chair and sets up the table he pulled from under the ring in the corner. McIntyre intercepts Jimmy with a Futureshock DDT and pins him, but Jimmy kicks out. McIntyre kips up and calls for the Claymore Kick, but Jimmy sees him coming and sends him crashing through the table with a Samoan Drop. He ascends to the top rope, then looks to land an Uso Splash on McIntyre. McIntyre sees Jimmy coming and hits him with the chair, then connects with a Claymore Kick on him for the win.
Winner: Drew McIntyre
After the match, McIntyre places the chair around Jimmy's neck and uses it to choke him. Officials run down to the ring to check on Jimmy as Cody Rhodes' music hits and he runs out. He brawls with McIntyre and dumps him into the timekeeper's area, then checks on Jimmy and helps him up. McIntyre blindsides Rhodes from behind with a Claymore Kick and kneels over him as the show goes off the air.
