Cody Rhodes successfully defended the Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42, but questions about his physical status are now front and center heading into the post-WrestleMania stretch.

Rhodes was pulled from his scheduled WWE World meet-and-greet appearance after the match due to injuries sustained during the Night One main event. WWE posted a notice to affected fans confirming the cancellation.

"Due to injuries sustained at WrestleMania, Cody Rhodes is no longer able to make it to WWE World. Unfortunately, this means your photo op and/or autograph have been cancelled."

The announcement prompted immediate speculation about whether Rhodes would be able to continue as Undisputed Champion in the near term. Orton delivered a vicious post-match assault that included a punt kick, which visibly swelled the side of Rhodes' face and left him in rough condition as the show concluded.

Bodyslam has since provided an update that should ease some of those concerns. According to the report, Rhodes is not expected to relinquish the championship at this time, with WWE set to monitor his health in the coming days ahead of SmackDown.

The title retention itself came amid ongoing debate about the direction of Rhodes' reign, with a section of the fanbase voicing frustration throughout the build-up to WrestleMania 42.
