AC Milan have made Diego Godin their second choice signing of they fail with a William Gallas bid.

The Italian giants are set to pry Gallas away from London after his well publicized spat with the club which resulted in him losing the captain's armband.

But Milan are not ready to sit around and wait as they have lined up Villarreal's Uruguayan defender, Godin as an option if Gallas decides to stay at the Emirates.

"Of course, I am very proud and it motivates me to know that they have noticed me," Godin told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Godin who has had a solid season with the Yellow Submarines could very well be the man to replace Milan's legendry leftback, Paolo Maldini who is set to retire at the end of the season.
