A man reportedly died during a screening of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse in New Zealand on Sunday night.

Police are investigating the 23-year-old's death, which happened at the Reading Courtenay cinema complex in central Wellington.

The man's body was discovered by a security guard after a 6pm screening of the movie, according to TVNZ.

Authorities have yet to determine his cause of death.

"There's no obvious injuries... and the post-mortem tomorrow will help us establish his cause of death," said detective senior sergeant Scott Miller.

Police are still to reach the man's next of kin. He apparently attended the showing alone.
